Planning a wedding on a private property can mean juggling a lot more than if you are getting married a venue. You are dealing with more vendors coming in - all your rentals, tent, washrooms, catering, and more. On your wedding day, you don't want to worry about whether or not all your vendors have arrived on time, have the correct products, and set-up correctly. That is for us, as your wedding planner to take care of.

You are a new wedding planner and have your first clients wedding coming up. You are starting to feel the nerves and unsure how you will keep a cool head. Know you are not the only one. I certainly had huge nerves for my first clients wedding.

The key is prep. Make sure you are as detailed as possible. Maybe your clients mentioned a detail about the day that they don't think is important but wanted you to know just in case. Mark it down. Maybe it is something to do with a timing of a song, food allergy, delivery of an item, whatever it is, I believe it is important to mark it down so you remember on the wedding day.

Wedding days are long. It is so important for you to keep hydrated and eat. When you are feeling 'hangry' and dehydrated, it will be hard for you to look after your clients to your full potential if you are not taking care of yourself first.

I had the pleasure of working with J&K for their April wedding earlier this year. We got hit with all sorts of weather that day, but it was still beautiful. Since I was young, I have been planning events. Everything from helping to coordinate family trip to friends get togethers. Little did I know, I could turn that into a career, let alone, have the confidence to start my own business. I thankful that I had such amazing family and friends supporting me through this journey. Congratulations on your engagement! Now it is time to start wedding planning. It is important when you are planning your wedding to take things one step at a time. Here are a few key points to help get you started.

1. Set a realistic wedding budget. This will help when trying to figure out what vendors might work for you.
2. Create your guest list. It's okay if you have Guest List A & B.
3. Pick a day, month or time of year you would like to get married in. If you are not particular about a certain date, you will most likely have a few more options available when reaching out to vendors.
4. Find your dream wedding venue.
5. Once you have your date and venue nailed down, it is time to start going through the rest of your vendor list.

- your website, what to include
- what services you want to offer
- contract outlines

Five Reasons To Do A First Look 1. Allows you to see each other in your wedding attire privately This is especially nice if you are not a fan of being the center of attention or around large crowds. 2. Gives you time to exchange personal vows A lot of couples will choose this time to share more personal vows or letters to each other. It is such a sweet and romantic moment to capture between the couple. 3. Makes your wedding day timeline less rushed If you have a lot of photos to do after your ceremony, it can be a bit of a rush process to get through them all. This is another great reason to do a first look and incorporate that into your couples photo session so you don’t feel so rushed. 4. A special moment to share with other people Doing a first look doesn’t just have to with your partner. The first look can be done with your parents, a child, or even a pet. I have seen a few couples choose to do a first look with their kids and the parents reaction to their kid(s) all dressed up is absolutely precious. 5. Provides a less structured opportunity for portraits and allow you to feel more comfortable. I am so thankful for A&B in trusting me with their wedding. I had such a great time working with them. Today, I am sharing a few of the essentials I always carry with me on wedding days.1. Fully stocked emergency kit. Over the years, I have added items to mine but some of the key essentials are extra pens, tylenol, advil, water, snacks, mints, kleenex and wet wipes. 2. Water. It is important you stay hydrated. I know I don’t drink as much water as I should, but I always make sure I have my water bottle handy and refill it whenever the opportunity is available. 3. Snacks. This one is big for me as I have Celiac disease so I don’t have the option of stopping for a quick bite at the drive-thru. I always make sure I have a few granola bars, fruit, veg and other filling snacks ready to go. 4. Extra copies of everything. I normally bring an extra copy of timelines, photo list, floor plans, etc. just in case another vendor has questions or needs an extra copy. I also save everything to a folder on my google drive so that way I can quickly access any of the information needed.
