Ever heard of RFIDs? You probably have used one if you’ve ever been to festivals or marathons. RFID is the acronym for radio-frequency identification and is normally distributed in the form of wristbands. It is used in accreditation to keep track of things such as race-timing and site-entry!

What3Words is a system that encodes geographic coordinates 📍 Every 3 metre square of the world has been given a unique combination of three words, making it a great navigational tool. 🧭
Our festival site maps are a crucial component of our workflow. We meticulously design them to cater to the needs of every stakeholder, supplier, crew member, and volunteer. 📝
We use & seamlessly to obtain geographic coordinates, which are then encoded within the W3W system. Hyperlinks are created within a PDF export so that users can simply click or tap on the site map to be directed to gates, security positions, and other key areas. W3W has helped better improve our internal communication, as well as better integration with key stakeholders! 🔀
We are constantly improving this offering & our team is working towards an even tighter integration in the near future! ✨

Meet Andy, our Site Manager!
Andy has been submerged in the event industry for over a decade. From London to the Netherlands, and has spent the last seven years in Canada. He has a real drive for on the ground operations, has some decent banter, and is a sucker for tea. 👷♂️📋🫖
As mentioned in our previous Radio Term post, clear communication is key to a successful event. And so is directing the message to its intended recipient. ↔️
When calling someone on the radio, use the format (Your name for Their name) Ex. Nic for Tim. Wait until they respond before putting in a request. The recipient will respond (Go for their name) Ex. Go for Tim, and this signals that they are ready for receipt of the message. 💬

Wow! It's already been two months since our team was on site for Festival du Bois! 🪵🪓
The event is held each year in Mackin Park, Coquitlam. The Quebecois & Francophone spirit can be felt throughout the festival, which features; traditional music, French Canadian delicacies, children's activities, and of course poutine & beer! 🎭🎵🌲
Once again, we were responsible for coordinating the on-site ops, including; site design, project & production management, supplier advance, staffing & crew services, equipment rentals, and a few other hats as well! 🇲🇶🪵🪓

The Future of Work event, presented by Pitt Meadows Plumbing & Mechanical Systems, was an incredible educational experience for construction and building professionals, as well as young people looking to join in the industry! 🔧
During this event, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a variety of panel discussions, which covered topics ranging from the latest trends in sustainable building practices to the future of automation in the construction industry. Additionally, guests were able to network with one another, sharing valuable insights & ideas about the future of their industry and talk to industry leaders in their field. 🤝
We were delighted to offer production planning, equipment & decor rentals, as well as logistics and staffing support for this wonderful event, which we believe will have a significant impact on the industry for years to come!
Every year on April 28 is a day to commemorate those who have lost their life because of their work. It is also a day to raise awareness of the importance of workplace safety, as well as honour all the workers who have lost their lives due to work-related illnesses and those whose lives have been put on hold because of injuries that have incurred while working.
According to stats, the number of people who get killed at work is higher than those who lose their lives to wars and drug abuse combined! It is today that labour unions around the world observe to remember their fallen heroes and discuss measures to ensure safe workplaces.
TED 2023! What an incredible 2-weeks of helping to build out the annual Vancouver TED Conference. Our team was onsite and on-hand to assist Site Operations and Production of the event site’s many unique areas which saw a combined attendance of over a thousand guests and speakers worldwide. Thanks, for this amazing experience.
Fusion Fest is a two day, four stage festival located in the heart of Surrey’s Holland Park. It features 60+ local food vendors, each representing their country as a cultural pavilion, as well as hundreds of performers from all around the globe. This cultural celebration attracts 90,000+ people each July. In 2013, the free event was awarded Best Festival in the World at the Special Events Magazine’s International Gala Awards.

On event sites, effective communication is crucial for the safety of workers and the success of the project. One important radio term used by construction workers is "10-4."
"10-4" is a code used to indicate that a message has been received and understood. When a worker receives a message over the radio, they respond with "10-4" to let the sender know that they have received and understood the message! 🔘

As we celebrate the first day of Spring, we can't help but look back at one of our favourite projects from 2021, Tsawwassen Blooms. Working with the team at during the height of the pandemic, our goal was to bring a bit of joy and colour to the Tsawwassen community. 🌻
We designed & fabricated giant flowers made from pool noodles & placed them throughout the town to create a whimsical and colourful experience. People could interact with the flowers, take photos, and enjoy the beauty of Spring using the hashtag in order to spread joy and positivity during these unprecedented times. 🌷
