I specialize in month-of wedding coordination, and I also offer full-scope wedding planning services and other event services like bartending, venue setup/teardown, decorating and gluten-free baking!

Many of my clients have the bulk of their wedding details planned and are looking for someone to be in charge of things the day-of. Some clients are looking for more support and want to work through all the details together. What an encredible sky show last night!

Growing up I remember seeing the aurora borealis once. I got to see them once again when I lived in Fort Mac. Twice in... 37-ish? years 😂 But this summer we've seen them so blessed!!

I took a little drive over to Goose Spit for a different view, but they were pretty spectacular in front of our place 😍 I do wish we could have seen them more with the naked eye, but the pictures made for amazing surprises over and over again 📷

An absolutely gorgeous night, perfect for a dip before bed. There is so much phosphorescence!! That full moon lit everything up so much, a swimsuit was needed 😂

I haven't really ever been a huge fan of cold dips. I love a piping hot bath and I love a good sauna. But then that shock of cold?? No thanks.

Recently though I've been trying it more, mostly at night, especially on those super hot days summer brought. I was mostly doing it to cool off, but I know there can be a lot of health benefits.

My inflammation is pretty bad today, and after 14+ hours on my feet yesterday, it felt pretty amazing to get into that cold water! I love working weddings but my feet do not 🦶

I just need to get a sauna setup now!

On the first day of 2024, I'm looking back at everything that happened in 2023... I can't believe an entire year is over. Surely I can't be the only one who felt like it flew by!

So much happened between changing jobs, starting up a new business, losing loved ones, visiting old friends and seeing new places.

I want to say a huge thank you to the clients who supported me this past year 🙏🙏 I loved working with you on your weddings and being part of such a special day. It was truly an honour.

2024 will bring more changes and although that includes changes for Hummingbird Events, I'm so excited for all of it.

FINALLY!

I'm so excited to announce the expansion of Hummingbird Events

Partnering with Dove Creek Creative, I'm-over-the-moon happy to introduce Hummingbird Bakes - a gluten-free kitchen 🍪🧁

Small batch, gluten-free goods that are also CELIAC FRIENDLY. I was diagnosed almost ten years ago with Celiac Disease and I miss a lot of treats I used to enjoy. The North Island is especially lacking in fresh celiac-friendly offerings.

Come visit us at our first bake sale this Saturday October 28. We'll be at 2421 Cousins Ave in Courtenay from 10-3. Cookies, bars, loafs and more!

Our first sale is part of a fundraiser for Pacific Coast Guardian Canines. You can check out the other vendors while you're there, and even bring Fido along for a paw-print print! 🐕‍🦺🐾

October 1st cold dip in the Salish Sea 🌊 I didn't realize how dark it got after I went in! I've really been loving cold dips lately. I went yesterday in the morning. It was so nice to be in the water with the warm of the sun shining on me. This summer I've been going in the evenings though, so today I waited until before bed. I gotta say, I think I like night dips better! The water just seemed warmer somehow, and it was so peaceful. There are a number of benefits to taking the plunge in our ocean! ⭐ Because salt water is rich in minerals like magnesium, skin issues like psoriasis and eczema may improve. ⭐ Magnesium lowers cortisol, calming your nervous system. ⭐ Cold water can give us a jolt of adrenaline. This can change our focus from physical ailments, and this diversion can give relief for some types of pain. ⭐ It can reduce swelling and decrease inflammation. ⭐ It can improve sleep and mood. ⭐ Hydrotherapy of various kinds has been shown to decrease the symptoms of anxiety and depression. A couple weeks ago I coordinated a wedding that was held at an ocean-side venue. All the guests stayed on-site and had a great time. Sunday morning started with a cold dip - what a way to help you start your day after a late night of having fun! 🥃🥴 Would you consider an ocean dip as part of your celebration activities?
