Vancouver Parks has a collection of golf courses including Fraserview, McCleery and Langara championship courses plus pitch and putts at Stanley Park, Rupert Park and Queen E. and operated by the Vancouver Parks Board.

Golf hours are changing for winter

For the first time in decades, clocks in Vancouver will not fall back an hour in early November. The new time zone, Pacific Time (PCT), keeps the time we have used since March and stays in place year-round.

What this means for golf

Without the fall time change, evenings will stay lighter longer through the winter. Mornings will be darker, with sunrise about an hour later than in past years. By late December, the sun will rise at 9 am.

To give golfers enough light to play safely, first tee times and driving range openings will move later than in previous years. Lighter evenings also mean our courses and driving ranges can stay open later.

Golf courses:
First tee time is 8:30 am from November 1 to 15
First tee time is 9 am from November 16 until spring
Early morning back nine play is available seven days a week starting November 1
Green fees will be reduced starting November 16

Clubhouses:
Clubhouses will be open 11 am-4 pm daily

Driving ranges
Both ranges open at 8:30 am from November 1 to 15
Both ranges open at 9 am from November 16 until spring
Fraserview driving range closes at 8 pm (last balls at 7:15 pm)
McCleery driving range closes at 8:30 pm (last balls at 7:45 pm)

As the season shifts toward winter, our first tee time, twilight times and driving range hours are changing on October 19, November 1 and November 16.

GOLF HOURS as of October 19:
First Tee Time: 8 am
Early Bird: 8 am - 8:59 am
Back 9: 8 am - 8:59 am (Tues, Thurs, Sat, Sun)
Regular rate: 9 am - 1:29 pm
Twilight rate: 1:30 pm - 2:29 pm
Sunset rate: 2:30 pm - 3:29 pm
Front 9 rate: 3:30 pm

Early morning back 9 play available four days a week (Tues, Thurs, Sat and Sun).

Green fee rates will be reduced on October 19.

The driving ranges will open at the first tee time of the day. Fraserview driving range will close at 8 pm daily. McCleery driving range will close at 8:30 pm daily. The last balls will be dispensed 45 minutes before closing.

The clubhouses will be open 10 am - 6 pm daily with the kitchen operating from 11 am - 5:30 pm.

Pitch and putt hours are now:
8 am - 6:30 pm daily

Fraserview operations update:

Course aeration will be completed today. The golf course will reopen tomorrow, September 24 but there will be no early morning back 9 play available and the driving range will remain closed until Friday, September 25, as maintenance work is completed.

Today is International Thank a Superintendent Day!

Our superintendents and their crews at all six Vancouver Park Board golf courses work year-round to manage turf care, irrigation, course conditions and landscaping, helping provide an exceptional experience for more than 350,000 rounds of golf played annually across our six facilities.

Their work goes far beyond maintaining great playing conditions. They also play an important role in maintaining our courses’ Audubon certification, supporting environmental stewardship, habitat health and responsible course management.

That dedication was on full display at this year’s VGT Vancouver Open, where the leadership of our superintendents and their teams helped ensure course conditioning was a key part of the event’s success.

A special shout out to Pete at Langara and Queen Elizabeth, Jarrod at Fraserview and Rupert Park, Sean at McCleery and Stanley Park, and Dennis, our Supervisor of Golf Operations, along with all of their crews, for the incredible work they do to keep our courses looking and playing their best.

Fall Aeration Schedule

We aerate our golf courses each fall to maintain healthy playing surfaces through the winter and into the following season. Aeration relieves soil compaction, removes thatch buildup and allows fairways and greens to absorb the oxygen, water and nutrients needed to recover before winter dormancy.

Fall aeration dates:
Golf course, driving range and clubhouse closed.
Langara: Closed September 8-10
McCleery: Closed September 14-16
Fraserview: Closed September 21-23

Each facility will be closed for the full duration of its aeration dates. Reduced rates are in effect immediately following aeration and are posted on vancouver.ca/golf. We appreciate your patience while we keep our courses in top shape.

Also, beginning September 7, clubhouse and pitch and putt hours will be reduced.

Update: Regular access to McCleery Golf Course has been restored.

Macdonald St. south of Marine Dr. has reopened, and the traffic detour through Southlands is no longer in effect.
