The drainage work at Fraserview is now complete.

The installation took place over three weeks, with no hole closures and minimal interruption to golfers. A total of 4,125 metres of 2-inch pipe was installed over six fairways. The project was focused on persistently wet, low-lying areas on the property. Our crew will continue to seed the drainage lines to ensure a good stand of grass heading into the fall.

We’re excited about the benefits this new drainage system will deliver during the 2025 shoulder season.

Congratulations to John Cartlidge

After an incredible 44-year career with the Vancouver Park Board, John Cartlidge officially retired on May 30 as Superintendent of McCleery Golf Course.

As superintendent, John implemented course improvements and planted more than 150 trees while building what he calls “a great maintenance team.” He made finishing his career strong a personal goal, leaving McCleery in excellent condition.

“I am looking forward to being back at McCleery, but as a player, not a manager,” John said. “I am going to enjoy some camping, hiking, road trips and above all having more time to relax and reconnect with family and friends.”

The Vancouver Park Board is once again pleased to support Take A Kid To The Course at all three of our championship golf courses. From July 7 - 31, junior golfers ages 18 and under can play FREE at Fraserview, McCleery and Langara with a paid adult.

Take A Kid To The Course is a Canada-wide initiative encouraged by the National Golf Course Owners Association Canada to bring juniors and families to golf courses across the country. The program is in its 22nd year.

As our championship courses are very busy, we encourage families to book a tee time in advance to take advantage of the program.

The $5 booking fee incurred for each junior will be refunded at the golf shops on the day of play. One FREE junior per each paid adult green fee. Please provide names of all players at time of booking. Booking begins June 7.

Celebrate women’s golf from May 27 to June 3 as part of this year’s global Women’s Golf Day week. Women’s Golf Day (WGD) is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025, marking a decade of connecting, inspiring, and empowering women and girls through golf.

This year’s theme is ‘Bring a Friend’ so grab a golf buddy and book a championship tee time or invite someone who is new to the game and visit one of our pitch and putts. However you choose to participate, let’s celebrate women and girls playing golf and learning the skills that last a lifetime.

Upcoming Drainage Work at Fraserview

Starting May 27, Fraserview will begin a drainage improvement project on select fairways. This work is part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing course conditions and playability for the long term.

The good news? No full hole closures are expected during this project. Most affected holes will feature a temporary tee placed beyond the construction area, and play will continue using the regular green. In most cases, these modified holes will temporarily play as par 3s or par 4s.

All efforts will be made to maintain a smooth flow of play throughout the process.

We appreciate your understanding as we make these important upgrades to ensure even better playing conditions at Fraserview in the seasons ahead.

Pitch & Putt Maintenance Alerts for May 22

Rupert Park Pitch & Putt will undergo scheduled course maintenance starting at 12:30 pm on Thursday, May 22. The first tee will be closed for approximately one hour, with play resuming around 1:30 pm. The kiosk will remain open all day. Thank you for your patience as we complete this important work! 🌿

Stanley Park Pitch & Putt: The planned tree removal has been delayed, so we’re happy to share that all 18 holes will remain open for play on May 22.
