Moberly Medicinal Gardening
Sundays Sep 1 & 22, Oct 13 & 20, 12pm – 3pm

Stewarded by Alisha Lettman, the Moberly Community Garden is a medicinal native plant garden where participants can learn about ethnobotany and care for a shared source of food, medicine and biodiversity for their community. In this monthly class, participants will learn about and care for medicinal plants, as well as make herbal medicinal preparations. $2 to enroll for season.

Hello South Van and Moberly residents! Please join 2-Spirit United and Moberly Arts and Culture Center for our 3nd Annual 2-Spirit BBQ and Family Fun Day in Moberly Park on August 24th from 2pm to 3:30pm.

This is a free event, featuring a BBQ with the fixings, culture craft sale, drag show with some of Vancouver’s finest 2-Spirit entertainers, prizes, and swag. This is an alcohol-free event.

To commemorate Emancipation Day, the day when slavery was abolished in Canada and across the "British Empire", join us in the garden for a land-based celebration on Sunday, August 4th from 2pm-5pm! Participants will be led in an Afro-Caribbean plant walk, harvest dye plants including indigo, and get a chance to work with fresh indigo, amaranth and/or marigold natural dyes. There will be a performance of original music in an acoustic set in the garden, and a light picnic lunch will be served.

Before the Plate (Antes do Prato) is a documentary portraying how agro-ecological family farming in Brazil has been creating bridges between cities and the countryside to propose a revolution in the current model of food production and consumption: networked, connected, and supportive. The tool making workshop invites people to rethink their relationships to food by re-imagining gardening tools as collaborators in the gardening process rather than tools for control. Come join us for a free afternoon of activities!

Show on Earth: Wallace Line and Deep Time by Gamelan Turtle Bliss
Saturday July 6th, 7pm – 9pm

Come enjoy the beautiful sounds of the gamelan, a traditional ensemble of Javanese, Sundanese and Balinese peoples of Indonesia, and Wayang Shadow Puppets. This event is a free open rehearsal for Show on Earth, a gamelan and wayang shadow puppet show about evolution and life on earth.
