*STORY TIME*

Okay people!! So for most of you already know… I entered into a DJ contest in Palm Springs that I qualified for! At one of the largest le***an parties in the world called Dinah Shore!

This was by far one of the craziest dj experience I have come across.

They gave us all 5 minutes to put together a mix to impress the crowd & judges!

I practiced everyday in my hotel room on my laptop to make sure I remembered every loop… every transition .. every cue to be perfect and on point!

Well let me tell you… it didn’t go as planned! I ended up leaving my USB stick at home and while I was in Palm Springs .. I made sure to pick one up just incase and loaded my songs onto it to be extra prepared…. But one thing I forgot to do was download a certain hard drive that I needed to connect my laptop to the CDJs (I don’t expect none djs to understand that part) but it’s a big part of djing that I needed to have because the day of the contest.. they had me go first.
So as I walked up to set up… i realized the mistake I had made…. And I was stressing so hard!
I had told the stage manager I needed to quickly download the hard drive.. and she was a bit upset with me… cuz like… this ain’t for no amateur dj… you need to be on point with this kind of stuff… especially at the biggest q***r event world wide!!!

As I’m struggling to figure out the download … she started my time .. without me even being connected!! I WAS STRESSING SO HARD!!!

Literally sweat running down my face in panic!

I could have used the songs I loaded on the USB but I was determined to use my laptop cuz I’m more comfortable on it!

The hard drive wasn’t downloading .. and I had to think quick! So there was another djing already playing on the other set of decks and i quick run to her and asked her if I could plug into her mixer and use her USB… and thank goodness so was kind and said of course!!

So I quickly move as fast as I can to get all set up…. Remind you… my time has been started already… but thankfully .. I only lost a minute!!

I finally got set up…. And once I started … all that practice went out the window…. I didn’t do anything planned and I just went with and made sure to get the job done!!!!

With my regular set!! I had 12 songs in my mix… with my time loss…. I still managed to get 11 of the songs!!!

I was shaking the whole time! BUT I DID IT !

Even after I won.. the stage manager congratulated me.. and said she liked how I handled the whole thing.. and my bounce back was strong!!!
