What happens when floristry drifts toward elsewhere?
My personal submission for Arranged Editions Vol. 1: Toward Elsewhere, an exhibition of installation and sculptural works exploring form, space, and the expressive potential of the floral medium.editions
Artist: Marta Sanderson
Title: holding shape (2025)
Medium: various floral & vegetal varieties, wire
These vessels reimagine floral materials not as temporary adornment, but as form, structure, and object. By decontextualizing flowers from their familiar state no longer stems in a vase or gestures of occasion the work highlights the inherent sculptural potential of botanical matter.
Arranged together as a collective, the vessels propose that floristry is not limited to a single role or format. Our materials are transitional and flexible by nature; each time we work with them, they can become something entirely new.
This installation does not seek to define any one vessel, but rather to expand on the idea of what is possible. The chair as an extension of this idea demonstrates that their capacity for reinvention is infinite.
