A few days have passed and the Boombo### team has had time to recuperate and reflect. First and foremost, we would wholeheartedly like to thank our patrons for supporting our first joint venture. There is no party without you. Thank you to the Vancouver Men In Leather for partnering up with us and giving us so much support. Giant thanks to our volunteers/hosts (Mark, Maki, Al, Philipp, Harald, Trever, Jason & Prince), our talent (DJ Matt Effect, GingerBear, SpikiePup, Colin, Frenchie, Yeh and Tazo) and the amazing art exhibit by Neil!
Though the night did not go quite as planned, we were dealing with behind the scenes drama between two venue owners that while one supported us, the other did everything to make our night more difficult. We put countless hours into this event, graphics, promotion, setup, managing and tear down. As a debut event were quite pleased with the turnout and absolutely appreciate the quality of people that came and the suggestions that we hope to receive from you (expect a survey in your email).
We apologize for cutting the night short and in turn cutting off the go-gos sets and Spikiepup DJ set due to what we felt like was aggressive security towards ourselves and patrons. Though we were promised privacy in the play zone, it was anything but, despite our efforts to ask them to stop. We apologize if anyone was made uncomfortable by their presence and it was brought up to the unsupportive owner several times.
In the future we will rectify these issues by overviewing the license process and specifically including our requirements surrounding the play zone in our contracts. We would also like to personally invite Spikiepup to open our next Boombo### this Fall as we will be taking a short break.
Thank you again, we appreciate all of your love and support,
The Boomboxx Team
