As 2022 comes to a close, we end the year with another round of fantastic locally produced shows! To quote grammy award winning artist Adele’s James Bond anthem Skyfall … this is the end …

Tonight we have Vancouver drag icon Amy Grindhouse’s live christmas special. On Wednesday we have a double dose of holiday magic from The Parlour Magic Show. To finish off the week AND year, this Thursday, stand-up comic Sharpay Zhang brings together her funny friends to host a variety spectacular like no other!

Its getting colder, darker and wetter than ever out there. Thats just the facts, but inside the Havana Theatre we are packed with an abundance of cozy, warm holiday themed shows!

We kick off the week tonight with Alma Matters Productions’ Holiday Cabaret followed by the season finale of Sin Peaks’ Home for the Holidays on Tuesday. Wednesday, John and Uncle Slappy learn a thing or two about the holiday spirit with the help of some very funny friends. Thursday, we have the season 3 premiere of David Ward’s Station 234 and Unnamed Sketch Show returns with another round of hilarious sketches. Friday sees Bi-Weekly Comedy’s final show of year AND another holiday helping of Unnamed Sketch Show. Saturday, we got some sweet and salty improv from Hot Snack Comedy with Painted Fern Productions’ Holiday Cabaret closing out the week on Sunday.

December is filled to the brim with a variety of shows!

Sin Peaks continues its holiday run, SMH Comedy Society asks “whats so funny about mental health?” and on Thursday we welcome a cozy Christmas cabaret. Ending the week we have LOTD’s final stand-up showcase of the year, the grand finale of the Smoke Show’s sold out run and Sunday offers a back to back dose of holiday cheer and extra toasty jazz for all you jazz heads out there!

Tomorrow night, Wednesday July 6th, join us for the amarElas Band!

The musical project amarElas emerged amongst female Brazilian singers on the unceded and ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

Motivated by themes related to the feminine universe, immigration, identity, joy, love and colors, they combined their voices and, along with other instruments, carefully picked songs that could represent all of that in a sensitive way.

Their work is currently composed of original and cover songs in Portuguese and English, and the genres are substantially composed by MPB (Brazilian popular music), Bossa Nova, Samba and others not labable rhythms.

Performance supported by the Consulate of Brazil in Vancouver.
