🚨🚨🚨THIS WEEK ITS ❗❗❗
No one knows exactly when Hank Hernandez drifted into Vancouver, or how. Some say he rode in a couple of years ago from the wheat fields, clinging to the top of a CP Rail car. Others say he washed up in English Bay just the other week, fists full of the remains of a shredded dinghy. Still others argue he’s been here all along, watching the city’s denizens and scribbling furiously in a yellowed notebook.

What we do know is that he sings, he’s handy on the keys, handsy on the guitar, and writes personal, funny and thoughtful lyrics about escape, heartbreak, travels, and sweaters. He’s taken indie rock, pop, country and folk, put them in a mortar and pestle, smashed at them for a bit before taking out the resulting wad and pawing at it like a sadistic cat before presenting it to audiences everywhere.

Hank is excited to make his debut performance at Lanalou’s in support of his EP, “Me on the Other Side,” available to stream on all major platforms.

TONIGHT! Evan Cribb Electric Band is a new group featuring Mitch Osterreicher on keys, Nikko Whitworth on electric bass, Max Marceau-Ley on drumset, and Evan Cribb on saxophone, EWI, electronics, and compositions. The music features odd time signatures, head banging heavy metal, and hip hop grooves with a side of metric modulation. Featuring special guests Mike Allen on baritone saxophone, Nick Leffler on soprano saxophone, and Rory Hislop on trumpet.

APRIL 16THTH LETS GO VAN SOLOTom (Tommy) van Deursen has been a touring musician for the past 15 years. Born in Vancouver BC on May 7th, 1989, raised in the tiny mountain town of Kaslo, and currently residing on Salt Spring Island after 12 years of music and career development in East Van. He is an original member of Vancouver’s Tropical Disco-Rockers The Boom Booms, and the frontman for the rock band Small Town Artillery Collective. He has toured Brasil, Europe, The USA, Canada, Mexico, Central America, Haiti with The Boom Booms and many times around Western Canada + Ontario with STAC.

He puts on a deep feeling and warm show, not afraid to engage with a crowd and lean into experimentation within the confines of his songs. A little piano and keys, lots of Stratocaster and acoustic guitar, and a wide vocal range all get thrown into the air, with the thump of a kick drum and snare played by the feet to help with the foundations. Think James Blake in a boxing match with Jack White while the lads from Half Moon Run play a well-paced game of bocce ball outside. But the grass is tall. And a storm is coming.
