Shawna Rae Photography- Italy Elopements & Weddings Canadian now living in Italy to join you on your destination elopements and weddings ❤️ A few things about me: as an outdoorsy person, I love being in nature.

My name is Shawna (she/her) and I am a European destination wedding and elopement photographer specializing in Italy. I'm originally from Vancouver, Canada, and that will always be my true home. I have been travelling all across this great, big world, which started as a solo trip, but in 2015 I picked up this crazy Belgian guy along the way and just couldn't get rid of him ever since. Turned out I

had met the love of my life, and he's put a ring on my finger, so I now live in Europe. The serious bits: A graduate from photography school, I've been shooting professionally since 2013. My specialties are elopements, weddings, honeymoons... anything to do with love - including classy boudoir! I find happiness when I’m surrounded by mountains, trees, and lakes. My favourite drink is green tea. My favourite food is lasagna. I am vegan and try to eat whole foods plant-based because I am against animal cruelty, for the planet, and want to know I did my best to live a healthy life. I'm a huge environment geek and try to lower my footprint whenever I can ( ). Some of my favourite things to do are yoga, rock climbing, hiking, and camping in the wilderness with a cozy fire to curl up by.

❄️ Let’s talk winter elopements for a second here.

There’s just something so magical about them—snow-covered mountains, that crisp, quiet air, and the way everything looks like it’s straight out of a storybook. But what I really love about winter elopements? They’re so chill. (Pun totally intended.)

No sweating through your outfit, no dealing with crowds, just you and your person in a world that’s standing still just for you. Let’s not forget: cozy vibes for days. Hot cocoa, snowy kisses, and boots under your dress because who says you can’t stay warm and look amazing?

🍁🏔️ You, your love, and the crisp autumn air at sunrise surrounded by colourful trees. Lago di Braies is glistening, the mountains are reflected perfectly in the turquoise water, and you’ve got the iconic boathouse all to yourselves. No crowds to worry about, no one to bother you, just a private, intimate moment between you and your partner.

The best part: because you’re eloping in autumn, sunrise is later so you don’t have to wake up at 4am to start getting ready 🥹

This was the setting that Aimee and Matthew wanted, and I helped make sure their dream could come true! They embraced the beauty of the Dolomites for their elopement, adding their own unique touch by bringing along some incredible details with them. Beautiful dried flowers, personalized vow booklets, and a drawn photo of their pups, Coco and Nova, to be part of the day. 🐾💕

🚁🏔️“We eloped in the Dolomites, chauffeured by our private helicopter”

Lorraine and Oliver confided in me as their photographer, perfect-itinerary creator, and BFF for their multi-day elopement. With the help of (and a brief appearance of her partner as Assistant-of-the-Year), we helped L + O to make their BEST DAYS EVER come true 🥹

The best part of this elopement; you could really see that L + O were having an incredible time, living their best lives, not worrying about what anyone else wanted or thought. They got to truly be there for each other, live in the moment, and do exactly what their hearts desired. And that’s what eloping is all about ❤️

🫣Did she say yes?!

Obviously, just look at how he proposed!

I’ve officially shot the most beautiful winter engagement ever in Äkäslompolo above the Arctic Circle, and my life feels just a little more complete 😍 I am so incredibly grateful that I got to be there for M & D during this magical time, what an amazing experience.

Big thanks to and .travel for assisting me in making the preparations in their room before they arrived. I sprinkled their bed with flower petals, lit some candles (safely 😆), and made sure the room was ready for one of the most memorable moments of their lives!

1. Choose a destination that speaks to you as a couple
2. Rent a super cozy cabin (preferably that comes with a sauna!)
3. Have an incredible bouquet from an incredible florist
4. Get vow cards designed that you will want to keep forever
5. Look like a couple of STUNNERS with outfits that represent you!

Eloping doesn’t have to lose the feeling of getting married, you can have as many or as few wedding elements as you want. This is your day, so choose for you!
