Flower Facts Friday Snapdragons: These flowers can “talk” if squeezed, their blooms opening creating a “mouth”. From the Antirrhinum genus (not to be confused with Anthurium) these flowers have medium longevity and mild scent with many blooms per stem.

Flower Facts Friday Protea: The most common proteas to see in our store are Pink Ice, Pink Mink and Pincushion. King, Queen and Blushing Bride are available for special order or seasonally. Leucadendron also falls under the family Proteaceae. These come to us from South Africa and despite the long journey they have quite a long vase life. Most have little to no fragrance and are a stunning exotic addition to any arrangement.

Flower Facts Friday Lisianthus: Sometimes referred to as a Poor Man’s Rose flower, we think they are for everyone. These flowers have a medium lifespan and come in shades of pink, purple, and white. They have little to no scent and come with a few blooms per stem.

Flower Facts Friday Oriental Lily: Grown for their fragrance, these lilies grow into stunning blooms that are highly scented. With medium longevity, they are not recommended to have around cats. Colours typically include white and pink (with some variation).

Hybrid Lily: These lilies are grown for longevity. Typically our lilies are shipped as buds or tight flowers to open in your home. Our hybrid lilies colours include orange, white, pink and yellow (with some seasonal variation). Unlike Oriental lilies, these have little to no scent. Both Hybrid and Oriental lilies are not recommended to have around cats.

Flower Facts Friday Hydrangea: A large flower composed of several smaller flowers, these have medium to long longevity if you know how to care for them. Thankfully we include specific care cards in each floral arrangement containing hydrangea. These flowers have little to no scent and come in a few colours.

Flower Fact Friday Gerbera Daisy: Sometimes called African Daisy, this cut flower is long lasting with little to no fragrance. They typically come in two sizes, mini and full-sized and a variety of colors. Yellow Gerbera daisies remind us of sunflowers.

Flower Facts Friday Chrysanthemums: Regarded as one of the longest lasting cut flowers, these come in a variety of colours and shapes. Sometimes called daisies or spray daisies, they have little to no fragrance and come with varied amounts of blooms per stem.

Phalaenopsis Orchid: An exotic flower, typically chosen as a houseplant these are very long lived cut stems as well. They have almost no fragrance and are available in limited colours naturally. Orchid pollen sticks within their non-airborne pollen packs making it an excellent choice for those with floral allergies.

Flower Facts Friday Veggie Rose: A recent addition to our rose line up, these unique looking flowers are quite long lasting. They have little to no fragrance and only come in one colour. These are quickly becoming a staff favorite

Flower Facts Friday; Spray Roses
Similar in shape to our standard roses but smaller, spray roses also have little fragrance. Unlike our standard roses, there are more than one bloom per stem. These also have a shorter lifespan but more dainty appearance.

Leatherleaf spores! Tis the season for reproduction! These little yellow (sometimes brown or black) spores are NOT bugs, eggs or any other critter. They are completely normal 😊

Flower Facts Friday Garden Roses: most common in our store in the spring and summer. These differ from our standard roses in colour, size and number of petals. More 'peony-like' in appearance these roses have a shorter lifespan and more fragrance, but golly they are pretty.

Flower Facts Friday Standard Rose: Each colour of rose has a specific meaning. Most of our roses are shipped overnight from when they are cut in Ecuador to when they arrive in our fridge. Most varieties are grown for longevity and not fragrance. The hot pink or "Pink Flloyd" roses are the exception in our fridge and are especially fragrant.

This week's Flower Facts Friday is Carnations. In the 'Dianthus' genus, with cousins of Green Trick and Sweet William, these flowers appear without dye in almost every colour. One of the most long lived cut flowers, our varieties produce little to no fragrance. They are available in mini and full-size.

We are starting a new series Flower Facts Fridays!
First we have Alstroemeria: Other names include Peruvian Lily. Despite its lily appearance, these are actually safe for cats. These flowers are quite long lasting and produce little to no fragrance

Hi Grads of 2024! We are so excited for you and can't wait to help you celebrate. Our corsage & boutonniere order form will be available Monday, May 13 for all your custom orders. We highly recommend coming down to the store to fill out your form and place your order. Please remember that we have finite availability and require a minimum of 48 hours notice to create a corsage or boutonniere. The earlier you order the better, certain products will only be available with advanced notice. This year in Vernon we have three graduating classes celebrating on the same weekend, please order early to ensure your spot!
