A cool spring has kept all us farmer florists in a bit a frenzy of anticipation and then everything went wild and the blooms took off. Every day you can see the growth in what started as tiny seeds. Our wedding season is upon us with bouquet subscriptions going strong. Thanks everyone for your continued support.

Super thankful for all the talented people I’m surrounded by and the beautiful couple who let me go wild with flowers 🌸

Thrilled to be seeing the start of spring blooms. 🌸Felt my heart skip a beat with sightings of cherry blossoms and early daffodils this weekend. What a delight to live in this gorgeous city surrounded by beauty even in the middle of February. I spent far too many Februarys freezing my 🍑off living in Edmonton so every day here feels like another day in paradise. Cheers to my Edmonton pals, only 3 more months of winter. 😘

We strive to make sustainable choices with our florals. The blooms we choose at this time of year are all BC greenhouse grown which greatly reduces our carbon footprint. While I’d love for everything to be organically grown right in my own yard, the reality of winter in Canada limits those options. Offering fresh flower bouquets at Valentine’s comes with its own list of issues but this feels like a good option for anyone wanting fresh not dried flowers while helping support local businesses across the province.

Is anyone else kicking themselves for having ever started this Christmas tradition?! December now means a rush to find where I hid the blasted elf, we now have three, although 2 remain elusive, and the beginning of many nights where I wake up with the panicked realization, 😳the elf hasn’t been moved. The days where I had Pinterest worthy elf sightings are long gone but my kids, far too old to believe in Santa’s little minion, still love starting the day with a search for their little spy.

Flowers aging gracefully. This arrangement is a week old, the roses have continued to plump up and are in full show stopper mode. I love that lilies take their time and slowly reveal this insane display. An intoxicating smell but a word of warning to anyone with pets that like to sample your plants, lilies are super toxic if ingested! If you’re ordering flowers this time of year and you’ve animals at home or where they’re being sent, please let me know and I’ll swap out the lilies with another bloom that won’t cause any mishaps.

Why choose locally grown flowers, well, why not when they look this amazing?! Also, in light of all the obvious effects we’re seeing these days from climate change, buying locally grown is an eco-conscious choice which helps out the BC farming community. I feel immensely lucky to live and work in a place where our unique micro-climate allows for a wealth of seasonal flowers. The co-op is a producer-owned co-operative of cut-flower growers on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, who provide high-quality, specialty blooms and foliage as well as advocate for flower farming's significant role in stewarding our region's environmental and community wellbeing. Super thankful for this incredible group of, substantially women owned, small farms that support, empower and encourage more florists to follow the movement.

Dreaming back to hot (and very dry!) summer days and this rich colour palette. And speaking of dreamy, how about this wedding party?! The sweetest bunch that spent the entire day smiling and pitching in to help the restaurant staff set up when covid had altered some of the initial venue plans, I think this is what they mean when they talk . A perfect day surrounded by friends celebrating your love, that’s exactly how this day should go! I’m here to make sure it’s extra beautiful, like the icing on a cake, flowers elevate the moment. Wanna add some wow to your wedding? A floral install can certainly up the swoon factor. This deconstructed arch was made without the use of a common crutch used by the floral industry, oasis foam. Oasis is a single use micro-plastic which leaches into the water and causes irreparable environmental damage. There’s a shift in the floral world to make better choices and this is one I’ve implemented from the very beginning. Using chicken wire and properly prepping flowers to be out of a water source or using flower tubes (and reusing again and again) works for me. This arch structure was a stunning backdrop to the vows and then framed the sweetheart table at the reception. We then gave these blooms a third act when disassembled and made into bouquets that were delivered to a local seniors care home. What a great way to start off a life together making choices that benefit a wider audience, and look amazing in photos. Photographer:

Here’s something I never thought I’d say…. I’m sad to see summer slowly disappearing. Now I love fall, bring on cold weather and blankets. But I’m going to miss those beautiful golden hour sessions and gorgeous beachside photos. But I am excited to see all of the fun ways I can incorporate rain, snow and fall coloured leaves into your sessions 🤍

The world has shifted a bit since my last post. Priorities have altered and we’re all forced to take a moment. While there’s a lot of uncertainty as to what the future holds, I’m made more aware of how lucky I am. Self isolating is not what I had in mind for spring break but the flowers are still blooming and we’re all in this together. Thankful for everyone. Thought I’d brighten your feed with what I do best. Here’s an arrangement I made with blooms from our garden. Take care of yourselves and each other.
