In two weeks I'll be travelling to Bamfield, BC for my second !

I feel so lucky being part of such a special music festival. Seeing musicians who may have just met, who are so focused and so passionate create together, is an important ingredient of art. I'm not an artist per se, but I love bringing art (of all varieties) into a public space.

Wish me well on the bumpy road to Bamfield and back - I mean that literally.

I can't believe it's already been 6 years, with the last 2 years as co-director, of the . For this year's festival we're changing up the format. The program doesn’t just have in-theatre films, but bigger in-theatre 'Film Events'. It's hard to ever know (until you try) what will work, but nothing evolves by staying with the status quo. You have to be creative, take some risks, and just go for it.

So at this year's festival there will be movies, music, nosh (snacks), conversations with film directors, door prizes, and a 'Movie Lover lounge' at the Chatuea Victoria's Vista 18. There will also be a Family Fun Event with a short film, sing-along, balloon twister, and so much more.

The festival is FREE. Nov 1-6 at the Vic Theatre. Tickets should be ordered in advance at vijff.ca.

A few images from Music By The Sea Victoria (Jan 11-16). There is a real magic to in-person experiences. This was a six-day concert series--of both classical and jazz music-- with a company of over 20 incredible artists and staff. Every day the camaraderie, energy, and passion grew stronger. What a privilege to be a part of it.

Thrilled to have joined the Music by the Sea (MBTS) planning team led by Executive Artistic Director Christopher Donison. For the past 14 years professional musicians from all over Canada have gathered in Bamfield to make music by the sea surrounded by boundless nature. But now, for the first time, MBTS will be in Victoria for a six day concert series. Unlike other music festivals MBTS creates a company of artists, both jazz and classical, who collaborate to create unique programs. I can't wait! Aug 17 to 22 at the Victoria International Marina. Introducing the first-ever Feel-Good Film Festival! This will be my 5th year planning the VIJFF, and one of the best parts is alway adding something different. Last year we added the drive-in (and having to go virtual of course), and this year we're adding a mini springtime fest opening with 'live' stand-up comedy (hosted by NPR's Ophira Eisenberg) and featuring three comedic or feel-good films. We did it. The design of the 6th annual VIJFF may have changed many times over, but with a lot of research and staying on top of what could be possible, we planned an incredible film festival. First we’re going to the drive-in (Aug 23-25) showing 5 films over 3 nights. And then in October we’re going virtual showing another 6 films. I keep saying there’s something for everyone, and there really is.

We created an online auction tool to better meet the needs of our client. It’s clear and easy to use, plus there are no hidden fees or percentages lost. Every dollar goes towards raising funds. The concept behind this particular auction is actually really great (especially in these uncertain times) — instead of asking businesses for auction items, ask members of your community group what they can contribute to the auction. Then the same community group bids on the items.

I’m finding it a challenge letting go of what I thought my 2020 would look like. It was supposed to be a mix of events, travel & music gigs. I keep looking back at February with my trip to Bali & Melbourne sandwiched between the Night Moves Party and the Pink Shirt Gala and think, “how did we go from that to this?”. But I’m working hard to move forward. Taking events virtual, and just waiting for the day we can all get together again.

Only 4 more days until the 5th Annual Victoria International Jewish Film Festival. I was contracted after year 2 to help keep the festival alive - it was started by a dedicated volunteer who created an incredible foundation, but wanted their life back - and now, 3 years later, I can proudly say we’ve kept this important event growing and thriving. This year there are 10 film programs, 2 Q&A sessions, and a visiting Broadway & film producer from NYC. Plus, there’s the opening night reception everyone always loves. I feel so lucky to be a part of this incredible event. L’chaim to its 5th anniversary 🥂

Smooth and seamless grand opening ceremony of Homewood Ravensview - a brand new treatment centre for clients living with mental health, addictions and concurrent conditions. The ceremony had an exceptional group of speakers all participating in the ceremonial ribbon cutting. The event was situated in the facilities third floor relaxation lounge with stunning views out their large windows connecting the inside space with the land.
