Check out this fall wedding at ! 🎃

Ceremony:
It was quite the challenge. The rain was coming down so hard that it was actually a bit difficult to hear the officiant where I was situated at the back. I took a noise-level reading of the rain, mid-ceremony, and it was 79.8 dB! 😱

Dinner:
I set up a portable speaker and wireless mic for the MC and speeches. It’s a pretty small space so I played background music from my main system in the adjoining room (rather than the portable speaker) so as to not overwhelm the space with sound.

Dancing:
I created a custom monogram for my DJ booth, based on the wedding invitation the client sent me ahead of time. I put uplighting around the space, as well as two uplights under the water pitchers at the bar, which gave a super cool music-activated effect!

Before & after shot of my uplighting for a wedding tonight at Prestige Oceanfront Resort Sooke with The Good Party - Creative Planning + Production.

My uplights are battery powered, wirelessly controlled, and IP65 weather-proof so they can be used anywhere, inside or out. They also have a really awesome “MusikMode” where each light reacts individually to the beat of the music to really light up your party. 🔥

You may have noticed things have been pretty quiet around here lately, and that’s because I blocked off my calendar for the entire month of January. Sorry if I had to turn down your event! After an insanely busy 2022, it was definitely the right choice.

I have been very intentional about how much I take on in Feb/Mar as well, because things are ramping up pretty heavily again into the spring and summer.

I hope everyone reading this has had a good start to 2023 and I look forward to sharing more shenanigans in a couple weeks!

I highly recommend checking out the first six tracks if you haven’t heard us—our Sangster choir is 80 Gr. 1-5 students of 240 total at the school and they are an impressive group! They even rocked two and three part harmony on four of our six songs. We meet twice a week at lunch to practice.

Following that is an original play with Gr. 5 actors and between each scene you’ll hear each class in the school perform.

The finale is a whole school song with all the students singing their little hearts out!

Our students worked SO hard and everything you hear was memorized for the show. 🙌🏻🎶

Dress rehearsal for our Sangster Elementary Christmas concert! 🎄

My setup for this includes a full stage lighting and sound rig on 32-ft of truss, 2 subs, 2 rear house fill speakers, 4 overhead choir condenser mics, 5 wireless headset mics for the actors in our original play, 1 wireless handheld mic, guitar, keyboard and playback direct inputs, and so much more. Oh yeah, and I have to conduct the choir and all the kids in their class songs, too.🤪 🎶

This was my setup for a small wedding a few weeks ago. I had the corner (7-ft width) of a tiny lounge to set up so I brought a 4-ft skirted table, two SUB 702 AS II subs with two NX 910-A full range, and six uplights to make it pop. 🔥

Back to School! 🎶

As many of you probably know, I am a full time elementary school (K-5) music teacher on top of my DJ business, and today marks the end of the busy wedding season and the start of the school year.

I’ve been posting a lot of DJ content on instagram for the past few months but now that I am back in the classroom you can expect that to slow down a bit for awhile.

Make no mistake; I will still be DJing, but as we get into the fall I have done my best to take on fewer events so I can focus on my teaching and my family.

My next event is in a couple weekends from now and I’ll be back at The Beach House Restaurant for that one!
