This year the Loft is trying out a program with the Fine Arts department at Camosun College. This is a collaboration with the photography students in Professor Nancy Yakimoski’s classes. Her students are granted access to borrow any items in the Costume Loft in exchange for permission to post the photos they create. This type of collaboration is something the Loft has been trying to get going for sometime as we have so many vintage and delicate pieces that rarely get to see the light of day. Last month we had out first student to participate in the program. We are pleased to share Joshua Brown’s photography assignment showcasing pieces from our wonderful collection.

Reservations for Santa Suits is now open. Keep in mind that the Loft will be closed for the winter holidays starting December 22nd. We will reopen in the New Year on January 11th.

ANNOUCEMENT: The Costume Loft will be closed from August 28th - 31st for the long Labor Day weekend. We will resume normal business hours again on Wednesday, September 4th.

The 1950s had some amazing hats. Ever wonder what these wide brimmed; clam shaped hats are called? I've seen them labeled as cartwheel and platter hats but I like the term Bouffant hat. Have you heard of another name for them?

ANNOUNCEMENT - The Costume Loft will be closed from July 10th through July 20th. If your costume rental is due during this time you can bring it back when the loft reopens on July 24th.

Every day we get lovely donations from our local community. This week we received the wedding dress and suit of Lynden and Gloria Martin. Terry Guise and Geoff Somers included a picture of the beautiful couple and a brief story on how they met. Thank you for all your delightful donations that keep The Costume Loft full of fashion history that the whole community can enjoy.

Sorry to announce that this July's Costume Loft Sale has been postponed. A number of factors played into making this tough decision. The most important is that our building is under going a couple of interior and exterior work projects making available space for hosting a sale problematic. Additionally the Costume Loft has a changing of the guard. Please stop by and say hi to the new Loft Manager. But rest assure the Costume Loft Sale will be back in 2025.
