My name is Danielle van Werkhoven and I am a wedding and engagement photographer located in Kitchener/Waterloo, ON. I graduated from Ryerson University : Toronto Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and have since started building my business of capturing everyone’s unique moments of love, success and happiness. A little less formal topics, my hobbies include photography (obviously, but add a little spice with film), houseplants (I have over 150) and embroidery. I spend lots of time outdoors and am obsessed with travel and hiking up mountains I have no business hiking up with my physical stamina. I would consider myself an ‘Extroverted Introvert’ meaning I am great in crowds and getting to know new people but I love my downtime with my family, friends and partner and even alone time (most of that being editing and gushing over all my gorgeous clients photos). I’ve watched Grey’s Anatomy more times than I can count and I’ve been told on more than one occasion I need to talk quieter because my voice carries through any open or closed space way too easily. I have 7 tattoos with plans to add to my collection. when I find something that resonates with me deeply and impacts me from within. All of that adds up to exactly what you see above: Me! I am a vibrant and loud Aries Sun and Moon at heart with a soft and gooey centre that’s here to fall in love with your love story, and a Libra rising to make sure my aesthetic and perfection shine through in your images. These special moments from J+C’s day encompass so much love and happiness. We avoided the rain for the ceremony with gorgeous Cambridge Mill pavilion, and escaped inside for a beautiful reception and delicious food. The clouds parted and gave us a golden goodbye while we had some private moments on the balcony overlooking downtown Galt.

I feel so blessed every day for this to be my job and capture a love like this ✨

I can’t believe it’s already the end of May! This year has flown by so quick and the heat of wedding season has finally begun. Hear me out, places that are sentimental to you can make for some of the best places for your engagement session. These places you’re familiar with bring a sense of comfort when you may not be someone used to being in front of a camera. These places often tell stories about your love and relationship and that can very easily be seen when you get your gallery because you can so easily be yourself.

I’m always here to help my couple choose their engagement session locations, but try not to overthink it. Some places are grand and beautiful and they work perfect for session and some places that mean something to you can very much translate to your images and be just as grand 🥰

What a beautiful and cold winter day spent walking across the ice in Rockwood. We couldn’t have asked for more wintry conditions with the frozen lake and blowing snow but I actually have the most brave clients ever. I’ve never been able to have this perspective while at Rockwood Conservation Area. What a unique background the rock faces provided and what an amazingly unique way to capture Jessica and Corey’s love 💕

A mild winter so far calls for more outdoor sessions in the city, surrounded by twinkle lights above ✨

Joselynn + Braedon’s Downtown Kitchener engagement was too perfect to not share. We waited for the sun to set a little bit and just as we went to take our first photo, the twinkle lights turned on and that’s when we made photographic magic. The sky kept getting darker and the photos just continued to look gorgeous. I’m so blessed to have all my lovely clients that are willing to dance around fields and cities with me all the time ✨

Have you ever been told that harsh sunlight is the worst on your wedding day? I think that’s totally a myth if you have the right photographer by your side.

I always spend time making thoughtful images using the harsh sunlight to my advantage instead of shying away. Never be afraid of different conditions, your day is unique and beautiful just like your love and I can’t wait to capture it. Having a photographer that can adapt to all weather and lighting is key to making sure your day is captured beautifully ✨

Elisia + Harold’s are the most kind and down to earth people ever. This session was basically us doing a hike around the conservation area, making eachother laugh, spinning around till we’re dizzy, and laughing till our smiles and stomachs hurt. I’d call that an incredibly fun and successful session ✨
