How to peel a hard boiled egg I’m making Japanese egg salad. Recipe in comments. To boil the eggs, I put the eggs in a single layer in a pot. Add enough water to cover by 1 inch. Bring it to a boil on medium heat once boiling cook for nine minutes. I like the centre little soft the recipe actually calls for 12 minutes. Once it’s finished cooking, transfer the eggs to iced water to stop the cooking let them cool completely and peel the eggs My secret is to crack the eggs a little bit before they go into the water that way the water can penetrate the membrane, which makes it easier to peel once you’re ready to peel the eggs, take a bit of the shell off the rounded end and slip teaspoon in between the egg and the shell and gently jiggle and slide the spoon around the whole egg. The shell should fall right off in theory lol. It takes a few tries. What is your secret for peeling eggs? I’ve also tried the baking soda trick, which for me works really well. Let me know how it goes!!
Garnish for the Seder dinner.

My very first loaf of sourdough sandwich bread. My Mommy used to make fresh sandwich bread and she talked of memories of her Mother’s warm bread fresh from ( probably) the wood stove with melted butter. #homebakingisthebest
