TUESDAY, JULY 2ND 🌲
Get ready for some rooting, tooting, grand ol’ times! Tomorrow will feature a performance from T***s at Arts in the Park! 💚

Bio:
Originally from Yorkshire, England, T***s is a self taught musician. Drawing inspiration from the deep troubadour history of British folk music and the poetry of urban lyricists such as The Streets and Blur, he moved to the Yukon in 2018 where his anecdote/storyteller based performance solidified and his unique on-stage presence was born. He is an active member of the local music scene, striving to create more spaces and more paid opportunities for musicians and artists alike.

CANCELLED SHOW: MONDAY, JULY 1ST
Here’s a quick reminder that today’s show featuring Alex MacNeil has been cancelled due to road closures.

We hope to have him back to Arts in the Park next year, so be sure to check out his music so you can sing along to these fantastic tunes! 🎶

Alex’s next show will be at the Dawson City Music Festival later this month.

Bio:
From Nova Scotia's rugged coastline to the untamed wilds of Dawson City, Yukon, Alex MacNeil has left an indelible mark on Canada’s DIY rock scene from coast to coast. Former frontman of Alexander & The Great Ones and sideman to acclaimed acts like Willie Stratton and Braden Lam, Alex now ventures into uncharted territory with his new band, Alex MacNeil and The Revenants. This four-piece powerhouse exudes Yukon powerpop charm and will release "FAR OUT MAN," their upcoming five-song EP that merges 60s psychedelic pop nostalgia with punk sensibilities.

With heavy hearts, Music Yukon and the Arts in the Park team share in the grief felt throughout our community with the passing of Steve Slade. As one of the co-founders of Arts in the Park, he played an integral role in showcasing the Yukon's artistic talent to a downtown Whitehorse audience every summer for decades. Steve was a strong advocate for music education. If he wasn't teaching in town, you may have crossed paths with him in the communities where he'd create songs with students, or in Carcross, where he'd set up shop to share his instruments with travelling guests, or play for patrons at the Surly Bird Saloon. We reminisce about the impact he had on the many festival producers, sound technicians, artists, and aspiring interns of Arts in the Park over the years, who all have their own story to tell of the legendary (and self proclaimed seldom seen) Steve Slade.

We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends, and everyone impacted by this loss. We take comfort in knowing the values he strongly supported for musicians, artists, and students remain at the forefront of our community. Safe travels, Steve.

And, as he always said to close out a show, take care of each other.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26TH AT 5:30PM 🌿
We’ve got back to back shows for you tomorrow night! Up at 5:30pm are Vanstones as you’ve never seen them before! Don’t miss out!

Bio:
Vanstones are a Yukon-based indie rock band with catchy, heartfelt song-writing and energetic live performances. After the departure of two of the band's three founding members, the band moved to a power trio arrangement and solidified their high-energy sound (think Alabama Shakes, Manneskin, and The Strokes, with a touch of classic rock bands like Fleetwood Mac). Their "Electric Lemonade" 2024 summer tour will showcase the band's new direction. Performance highlights for Vanstones include opening for Serena Ryder, The Strumbellas, and Hannah Georgas, and performing at the Dawson City Music Festival. They were showcasing artists at Breakout West in Kelowna in October 2023. Their debut album "Cascadia" was released in August 2023.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 26TH AT 5PM 🌼
We know you will have lots of fun with these fantastic fiddlers! Join us and South of Town tomorrow at 5pm for a lovely little set!

Bio:
South of Town is an energetic fiddle duo from just south of Whitehorse. Band members Noé and Jack have been playing traditional fiddle music together since 2019, but with South of Town they have recently been exploring the world of arranging with a looper pedal. South of Town was originally put together for Battle of the Bands 2023 at Arts in the Park, and plays with layering textures and harmonies on traditional as well as contemporary fiddle tunes.
