The human touch- no two the same It's a promise I can make to you :) That's the fun part of pottery and also the relatable part. None of us are the same. Each of us has a shape and size that is just our own. It's a beautiful thing!

Pro-tip Tuesday from the potter herself!
When doing pottery (or anything in life really) you need Patience and Perseverance. Pottery skills might be a natural talent, but it takes years to learn all the skills and tricks. What used to take thirty minutes to make, now takes a fraction of the time. So don't give up and keep working on it! As the age old tale says, practice makes perfect!

Happy Tuesday!
While glazing, this is my favourite part! Isn't it mesmerizing?
I wax all the bottoms of my pieces so they do not adhere to the kiln shelf. The wax repels the glaze, making the perfect bottom! This tip also helps to show details in the clay that you don't want glazed (like the labels on the Butter Dishes, Garlic Keepers and Sugar Dishes).

It looks really simple- but it took a long time to dial in the details and perfect the form. Some shapes don’t work well with the vinyl resist. The shape of the wares, the length of the dip, even the density of the glaze makes all the difference. Plus… each glaze is different. Usually a bit thicker glaze works better, but keep in mind some glazes crawl when they are too thick.
At the moment, we are busy updating our stock. As usual, you’ll soon be seeing a few new styles that we are excited about seeing how they work.

The guys that work for my brother are continually talking about how muggy it is.... even in the dead of winter. This week it has been especially muggy. Haha
