The human touch- no two the same It's a promise I can make to you :) That's the fun part of pottery and also the relatable part. None of us are the same. Each of us has a shape and size that is just our own. It's a beautiful thing!

Pro-tip Tuesday from the potter herself!
When doing pottery (or anything in life really) you need Patience and Perseverance. Pottery skills might be a natural talent, but it takes years to learn all the skills and tricks. What used to take thirty minutes to make, now takes a fraction of the time. So don't give up and keep working on it! As the age old tale says, practice makes perfect!

Happy Tuesday!
While glazing, this is my favourite part! Isn't it mesmerizing?
I wax all the bottoms of my pieces so they do not adhere to the kiln shelf. The wax repels the glaze, making the perfect bottom! This tip also helps to show details in the clay that you don't want glazed (like the labels on the Butter Dishes, Garlic Keepers and Sugar Dishes).

It looks really simple- but it took a long time to dial in the details and perfect the form. Some shapes don’t work well with the vinyl resist. The shape of the wares, the length of the dip, even the density of the glaze makes all the difference. Plus… each glaze is different. Usually a bit thicker glaze works better, but keep in mind some glazes crawl when they are too thick.
At the moment, we are busy updating our stock. As usual, you’ll soon be seeing a few new styles that we are excited about seeing how they work.

The guys that work for my brother are continually talking about how muggy it is.... even in the dead of winter. This week it has been especially muggy. Haha
The seasons favourite has just been restocked! Late Christmas gifting does happen... Better late than never, right? Yes, I am one of those late ones that print off a photo of what I purchased. "It's coming in the mail," I promise. This year isn't the case, but it actually often happens for bridal showers and one off events during the year.
A note on the evergreen mugs: there has been some feedback on the size of the handles. It is difficult to get every mug the same, but new year, new goals.... :) My goal this year is to be as similar to the picture as is possible! It is important to me that when you buy online that you get what you see.

Cream and sugar sets ready to go!
The special Christmas Mugs are now live! The ski hill, the goose hunter, and the glossy pine tree are available right now. Next week we will have more of the fisherman mugs, along with a deer hunter and a lumberjack. DM or comment if you are waiting for that one so I can make sure I have enough.

Evergreen: When you see the word "evergreen" it isn't a color, it's a style. With a rustic aesthetic, these wares are made by Cheryl Penner from Manitoba, Canada. I hand make every item on the wheel or with my slab roller at my studio. Items are flying off the shelf. If what you are looking for is not available, please send me a message to find out when it is coming out of production.
Growin up in rural Manitoba, we were surrounded by the forests of our country. The tall pines are so cozy and beautiful. My favorite hikes take me through dense growths of spruce , pine, and tamarack. In summer I love floating down rivers sided by the fragrant trees or swishing past them on my skiis in winter.
I would love to hear from you in the comments. What is your favorite "evergreen" memory?
Espresso shot cups are now available. Head to the link in the bio to grab a set for yourself or a friend. Items are shipping quickly. For the best shipping prices for yourself, choose my Etsy link in bio.
This hot seller just got added back in stock! #bronzeart #potterymugs
How dedicated of an iced coffee fan are you? Tell me in the comments if you still drink iced coffee even if the snow flies. Currently I am on to the hot beverages.
This lidded mug is available even after iced coffee season is over- IF it's over. :) You are totally allowed to not purchase the lid in favor of a tall gorgeous mug. The bamboo lid and straw or the silicone lid is available on the upsell feature on www.thistelwood.ca or on Etsy you will find it with the mugs. For some odd reason, the silicone to go lid will not upload to Etsy... so message me and I can send you a seperate invoice for that and will pop it in your Etsy order.
(The green speckled one is not quite yet available.) DM me if you want to be notified when it becomes available.
I do aim for 16 oz. As you well know, I am the potter with small hands that makes small mugs best. If the mug does not meet the criteria for the 16 oz. catergory, then it automatically gets dropped to the 12 oz. category.

Just a note! You can order and I will bring to any of my three main markets: @inspirationsmarket , @thirdandbird , or @appleandpinemarket
Please mark your orders accordingly. There is a place for notes. If not marked, the order may not show up at the correct market. 😆
You'll see there aren't many mugs.... I do have quite a few of my regulars in boxes on the way to market. Come there or to my store to see what I have!
If shipping, I would recommend ordering what you want this week to get what you want when you want it. My custom orders are full until the middle of December.
For those of you who can come to my store,I am now prepping for a mid December open house event.
Only a close up for you today! 👀 I promise... It's gorgeous and it's 'wild'. Come see the final product @borealshoresarttour on August 20 + 21! I'm excited to be part of the tour this year.

Kiln unloading May 10, 2022
^5 with a 25 minute hold.
I had a moment of faith building yesterday. My kiln stayed on at 1200* for over 24 hours. The dishes are perfectly fine. I need to replace the relay that got stuck, and then I can continue. The gorgeous black dishes are a special order for a friend of mine who is getting married. I do plan to make more in the near future.
