Final Friday lunch of the ‘season’ is June 27th!

Just a quick heads up that the Friday Lunches will hold its last lunch before summer, on Friday, June 27. Operating hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $10 per person (cash please), payable at the door. The usual offering is a bowl of homemade soup, two open-faced sandwiches, a dessert, some coleslaw and tea, coffee, or water. No reservations are needed, unless you are coming with a group of four or more, and then you need to contact Janet at [email protected].

Folklorama volunteers: Folklorama - Scandinavian Pavilion Aug.10-16: Our Norwegian Room will feature several displays on the theme of “Immigration.” If you would like to help with the displays OR to volunteer in the room during the Scandinavian Pavilion, send a note to [email protected] to indicate interest.

** No Friday Lunch on May 23rd, 2025 **

Our Friday Lunch will not gather this Friday, May 23, but will be back in business on May 30 and then continue Fridays through June – in our temporary location of the Scandinavian Centre’s main hall. [The upstairs Viking Room is currently out of use due to renovations on the second-floor washrooms.]

The NCC-run Friday Lunches, open to all, run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. For $10 per person (cash only, please), you receive a cup of homemade soup, two open-faced sandwiches, a small side of coleslaw, dessert, and coffee, tea or water. No reservations needed unless you have a party of four people or more. In that case, please contact Janet at least five days ahead at [email protected].

Hello! Bonjour!

A new set of fresh prepared items are available for delivery on Thursday, May 8th with a little flair for the upcoming Mother’s Day, and those you may be celebrating! See below for details, or you can access the info card from our website.

*A quick note, the fresh prepared items service will pause again this year for the summer with just a couple more weeks to go. The last Spring delivery will be on May 15th, and the service will resume in the Fall.*

*Signature Salmon Wellington with a lemon & fresh dill butter sauce [layered with scallop mousse, caramelized onions and spinach]
*Beef Bourguignon Style Pot Roast [gf]
Honey Roasted Beets & Rosemary Potatoes [gf]
*Spinach Tortellini Soup
*South African Sweet Potato & Peanut Soup [gf] [vegan]

Items will be delivered fresh, not frozen, directly to your home. This will allow each household to enjoy the items fresh, and if four (4) portions are too much for your household any extras can be frozen for a future meal.

$30, Vegetable item, 4-portion containers
$14, Soups, 1 litre container
$5, delivery charge – complimentary for orders $60+

Pick-Up: Wednesday, May 7, 2025 between 4-6 PM or at 764 Erin St, Winnipeg
Delivery: Thursday, May 8, 2025 between 9 AM-12 PM or 1-6 PM

(Note: Delivery time slots will be based on geographical location.)

'Crossings 200' is Norwegian Club’s theme for April 27th, Sunday Brunch!

Our theme is "Crossings 200" to observe the bicentennial of what is considered the first organized migration from Norway to North America, in 1825.

At the brunch, we'll have forms available, for people of Norwegian background, to share details of their or their ancestors' journeys to Manitoba, for inclusion on a Journeys Map we'll unveil on May 17.

Brunch runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Reservations are required via email to [email protected] and must be done by *** noon, Friday, April 25th.

Pilgrimage route in Norway, travel talk this Thursday

Doors open at 7 p.m. this Thursday, April 24, for our Kosi Kveld presentation by Paul Sartison and Val From about their recent trip to Norway and Paul’s trek on a portion of Gudbrandsdalsleden, one of the St. Olav Ways pilgrimage routes that ends at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim.

The event happens upstairs in the Viking Room at the Centre. All welcome. Coffee served.

The 🎵 Scandinavian Canadian Choir 🎶 spring concert is coming up on Monday, May 12th, 2025.

Our SCC fundraiser is this Saturday. The 'Dust Rhinos' (local Celtic rock band) will be playing. It’s always a good time and there are a few tickets still available.

Danish Canadian Club honours 🌼Jane Meech🌼at Brunch this Sunday, April 13, 2025!!!

The Danish Canadian Club will honour one of its valued members, Jane Meech, with a lifetime membership, to be presented at the Scandinavian Centre’s Sunday Brunch, April 13. All are invited to help celebrate this milestone for a true volunteer and promoter of the Danish Club.
