Mariners Centre Expansion: Ginny Smith
We are thrilled to share this tribute to one of Yarmouth's most inspiring figures, Ginny Smith!
A beacon of dedication and passion, Ginny has been at the heart of our community, guiding and nurturing young swimmers as a volunteer coach at the Yarmouth Y from 1973 to 2016.
But Ginny's influence stretches far beyond the poolside. Her contributions to the swimming world include teaching at national swim conferences, founding the Nova Scotia Swim Coaches Association, and leading the Nova Scotia Canada Games swim team to greatness.
In a monumental show of support for our community's health and wellness, Ginny has become a proud member of the Mariners Centre Founders Club. Her significant donation is paving the way for the much-anticipated expansion of the Mariners Centre. This expansion will bring to life a new, barrier-free aquatics centre, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, an indoor walking track, and more!

We’re still riding the high from our Jumpstart announcement from earlier this month!
The new Jumpstart Inclusive Multi Sport Court will include barrier-free access and enhanced visibility, as well as provide room for accessible and standard sports such as basketball, sitting volleyball, pickleball and wheelchair tennis.
As an extension of Jumpstart’s national Inclusive Play Program, the Jumpstart Inclusive Multi Sport Court will ensure that kids of all abilities in the Yarmouth community can participate in both organized sport and casual play.
