1. Boston Shaker
This one is a two-piece cocktail shaker commonly used by professional bartenders. It consists of a metal tin and a glass or another metal tin that fit together to create a seal. Its primary function is to mix and chill ingredients for cocktails by shaking them with ice. The shaking action not only blends the ingredients but also helps dilute the drink slightly, balancing the flavors.
2. Hawthorne Strainer
It is used to strain cocktails when pouring them from a shaker, preventing unwanted ice cubes, fruit pieces, or other coarse ingredients from entering the glass. The spring ensures a good fit against the shaker’s edge and effective filtering.
3. Ice Scoop
It is used to hygienically and efficiently transfer ice cubes or crushed ice from an ice container to glasses or shakers.
4. Bar Spoon
A bar spoon is used for stirring cocktails, especially stirred drinks like a Martini or Old Fashioned. Its long, slim handle allows effective mixing in tall glasses or mixing jars. The spoon itself can also be used for measuring small amounts of ingredients or layering cocktails.
5. Mixing Glass
This one is used to stir cocktails instead of shaking them. It is typically used for clear cocktails such as Martinis, Manhattans, or Negronis, where the goal is to gently chill and mix the ingredients without diluting or foaming them.
