Last week, from 2 to 11 August 2024, Biel/Bienne-based musician and sound artist Christian Müller was the first artist-in-residence to spend time at Manoir Bruit, working on sounds and creating a piece of music. The result – ‘Grüsse von Alice (11 Miniaturen)’ – can be heard temporarily via the Locus Sonus livestream, mixed with the surrounding sounds in the park of the Chateau de Sibra. Of course, Christian’s work can also be heard there, right on site, in and around the Manoir Bruit.

Manoir Bruit is a collaboration between Haus am Gern, Château de Sibra and Bruit.

On Saturday 2 March, from 2-6pm, Félicie Bazelaire will be offering a workhop entitled "From open composition to improvisation". The workshop open to all instruments, voice and electronics. You can register now at Bruit website. Link in the first comment.

The workshop will take place in two parts: first, we’ll tackle a number of different open scores, oral instructions or simple musical writings (works by Hannes Lingens, Fluxus, etc.). We will take the time to try out these pieces through musical play and to analyse the different proposals of these scores. We’ll try to bring out ideas and concepts that might give us some direction for the second part of the workshop, which will be devoted to free improvisation.

A Right to Silence, by DDK Trio (Jacques Demierre, Axel Dörner, Jonas Kocher), an album produced by Meenna (Ftarri) in collaboration with Bruit Association and GMEA - Centre National de Création Musicale Albi-Tarn, is one of the five favourite albums of 2023 selected by RADIO TELEVISION SUISSE (RTS), National Swiss Radio!

"A Right to Silence will take you into three universes drawn from a single event. From silence to fortissimo, these three will never leave you indifferent.
In the early summer of 2021, three long-time accomplices meet for a free improvisation residency at the Théâtre le Colombier in Les Cabannes, France: Jacques Demierre on piano, Axel Dörner on trumpet and Jonas Kocher on accordion.

Five days of freedom respected, pampered, cultivated and nurtured by these masters of improvisation. A project that pushes the freedom of choice to the point of letting each musician choose which piece will feature on his or her record, because we have a triple album in our hands."
Ivor Malherbe, RTS, 29.12.2023
