It is committed to raising awareness amongst opinion leaders, professionals, students and the general public on the energy and environmental issues associated with the nautical and maritime industries. To foster technological innovation, the Hydros Foundation aims at creating an ecosystem in which novel ideas and key actors are put in relation to stimulate new initiatives and support the developme

nt of solutions that will optimise energy efficiency in these fields, from maritime transport to sailboat racing and yachting. Its action is based around two main programmes:

- Created in 2014, the Hydrocontest is the Foundation’s flagship event. It is an international challenge which consists in designing and building the most energy-efficient boat prototypes possible. Participants are encouraged to think in terms of industrial applicability with an innovation-oriented approach to shape the boats of the future. - The Little Cup, also known as the « Little America’s Cup » is the International C Class Championship. With its extremely light flying catamarans able to sail 3 times the speed of the wind – the most energy-efficient boats to date – the Little Cup is often considered to be the innovation lab of its elder sister, where cutting-edge technology is tested, confronted and approved.

As today is World Oceans Day, we wanted to propose you a special #TBT on our mission, which is to promote energy efficiency in order to consume less, and try to preserve our beautiful oceans. It's everyone's responsibility to take care of our environment, especially the oceans, that are more polluted than ever. We invite everyone to think about actions that could help us give our children a better world. We are proud to support the students in their quest for the boats of tomorrow! HydroContest 2016

As we are shaping a new edition of the HydroContest, let's go back to the previous one and admire the prototypes that sailed in Lausanne: Working hard into the small hours, last-minute modifications, continuously exchanging, the 250 students competing in the HydroContest gave their all in order to hone their boats in these final stages. A collection of very different prototypes were competing from 24 to 31 July 2016 and produced some stunning racing. Little America's Cup 1969

Let's go back in time: When the Danes claimed the Cup! #TBT dedicated to the 1969 Little America's Cup. Facing each other were Opus III, the Danish challenger, against Ocelot, the British defender. The British C-Cats did not survive another assault. They were overrun by the Vikings from Denmark.
