Before Gaye Su Akyol took the stage at Fri-Son in Fribourg, we had the chance to listen to Tuncay Acar aka Süperfly @triptonious and learn more about Turkish music from the 70ies and 80ies.
Packing his favorite records, Tuncay told us personal stories about his very own heroines and heroes incl. Selda Bagcan, Erkin Koray, Cem Karaca, Ali Ekber Cicek of the past.
Doing so, he demystified the term Anatolian Psychedelic Music, words that have never been used before.

For those of you who have been following us from the first day, you will remember that we have been sharing @emelmathlouthi 's powerful songs on our socials, newsletters, and playlists.
Emel reminds us of the heroines and heroes we grew up with: revolutionary political commentary, beautiful vocals, and contemporary music. Her fans will remember Holm, the Arabic remake of the Iranian song «Soltane Ghalbhaa», or Kelmti Horra «my word is free», a song that became an anthem for the Jasmine Revolution.
With her new album MRA, «woman» in Arabic, she deconstructs to rebuild, keeping music alive. The result is a powerful, salvific, and feminist album. Powerful with feverish hip-hop, pop, and reggaeton, exemplified by Massive Will.
