At the FIEXPO Latin America 2025 Politicians Forum in Costa Rica, IAPCO CEO Martin Boyle elevated IAPCO’s voice on a platform dedicated to high-level dialogue with government officials, policy influencers, and industry leaders.

Speaking on “Geopolitics in Tension: New Realities for the Meetings Industry,” Boyle reinforced the strategic value of the meetings industry and the global impact of IAPCO Members, amid today’s complex geopolitical climate. Drawing from IAPCO’s 2024 Annual Member Report and 2025 Global Socio-Political Impact Survey, he highlighted the essential role of IAPCO PCOs as drivers of economic, scientific, and social advancement—calling for deeper collaboration, policy engagement, and future-ready strategies.

Boyle was also a key contributor to the FIEXPO Convention Bureau Challenge which convened leaders from CVBs, DMOs, Ministries of Tourism, and City Councils across Latin America to address key regional challenges in destination marketing and competitiveness.

As one of five invited international experts, Boyle shared IAPCO's perspective on “Professionalisation & Global Standards – Why It Matters in Winning Events,” offering insights into how raising standards directly supports destination success.

Join us for the first-ever ICCA-IAPCO Capacity Building Workshop on 9 July at the Sava Center, Belgrade, Serbia, led by IAPCO President Sissi Lignou.

This dynamic, in-person workshop is designed to equip PCOs and DMCs across South-Eastern Europe with practical tools, expert insights, and collaborative strategies to elevate regional event capabilities for sustainable growth.

IAPCO actively advances advocacy efforts, engaging with partners and policy-makers to elevate the global recognition of our sector.

While at Arabian Travel Market in Dubai this past April, IAPCO CEO Martin Boyle carried the voice of IAPCO’s global network to the Global Tourism Forum Leaders’ Dinner.

In a brief on-camera interview, he championed the collective influence of our international community, underscoring the scale, significance, and far-reaching impact of the business events industry on both the global economy and human progress. 🌍

Last week, IAPCO President Sissi Lignou proudly represented the global IAPCO community at the prominent UFI European Events Week in Thessaloniki, Greece, held between 3–7 June 2025. ✨

“This year, UFI celebrated a Century of Excellence, marking 100 years of pioneering leadership in the exhibition industry. This milestone resonates deeply with IAPCO's mission to drive Excellence in the global meetings industry, and we are proud to support efforts that align with our vision and commitment to advancing the industry as a whole. A big thank you to UFI for the honourable invitation,” said Lignou. 🎯

During the European Conference, the heart of UFI European Events Week, Lignou served as a key panellist in the session “Doing Business in Greece - A Golden Opportunity,” moderated by Mark Cochrane, Managing Director of Business Strategies Group, and joined by distinguished experts Dr. Kyriakos Pozrikidis, CEO of TIF-HELEXPO SA, and Alexis Lagoudakis, Managing Director of ROTA.

On this influential platform, Lignou advocated for IAPCO Members, highlighted the challenges and needs of the meetings and exhibition industry, and underscored the immense power of the business events sector in driving both global and regional economic and social growth. 🌍💼

From Frankfurt to Vienna: IAPCO Council Continues Unlocking Excellence ✨

Following a tremendously successful IMEX in Frankfurt, the IAPCO Council gathered in Vienna for their second in-person Council Meeting of the year—hosted with warm hospitality by the Vienna Convention Bureau.

Over three productive days, the Council focused on the strategic development of IAPCO’s global activities, setting key objectivesand KPIs to continue delivering value to our members and the wider meetings industry.

A highlight was the Stakeholder Engagement Workshop on 23 May at Le Méridien Vienna, where local event professionals joined IAPCO Council to discuss global trends, challenges, and opportunities for cities hosting international events.

This initiative reflects IAPCO’s commitment to giving back to host destinations, while supporting their future readiness and positioning in the global meetings landscape.
