Hotel Management and Catering students of the just ended four-Months practical session at the CBC Health Services Resource Centre of Excellence Mvan Yaoundé, will embark in another two-months internship program from August 1st - October 6th 2023 at various centers within the CBC health Services.
According to Mr Ngong Ezekiel, a Trainer of the Hotel Management and catering program, after the internship session, the students will sit for the National Diploma examination organized by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training.

It should be noted that the past three batches of students of the program have all registered 100% score rate in the said government exam.

Worth mentioning also, is the fact that the recruitment of the 5th batch of students into the Hotel Management and Catering Program has been Launched.

The practical session of the Hotel Management and Catering program which ran from March to July, 2023, at the CBC Health Services Resource Centre of Excellence Mvan, Yaounde provided an opportunity for the students to gain hands-on skills on major areas of focus encompassing: food and beverage production, housekeeping, bed-making, laundry, table setting and waiting, front office and general hotel management. This will enable them gain employment immediately they graduate in areas around hotel management and catering but could go on to work as front desk officers in any kind of company as well as be self-employed.

We caught up with one of the students, Linus Ngala (Class Coordinator) who shared with us his experience:

"the practical session boosted my skills in customer care, laundry services , preparation of variety of dishes including continental and African dishes, etc". Linus revealed that the knowledge gathered during the session will enable him to achieve his dream of owning a restaurant after the training.

The 4th batch of students of the Hotel Management and Catering Program under the Baptist Vocational Training Centre (BVTC), Bamenda of the CBC Health Services just completed their four-months intensive practical session at the CBC Health Services Resource Centre of Excellence, Mvan, Yaoundé.
This was marked by send-forth service that took place at the Resource Centre.

The Administrator of the Resource Centre, Mr. Kadzem Claude, in his address appreciated the students for their stride towards making the center what it is. "Our great Resource Centre of Excellence as we like to call it, has enjoyed every moment of your time and work. Your contribution towards making this center what it is, will forever be appreciated. As you go, please represent us wherever you are. Let people see our trademark of excellence in your work’’, he charged them.

The event provided an opportunity for over 27 students to showcase some of the skills acquired during the four-months practical session including baking, and cake icing. The students also demonstrated through a short play, the need for catering services to be inclusive, as is the case at the resource center.

The Hotel Management and Catering program under the Baptist Vocational Training Centre (BVTC) provides a one-year diploma course in Hotel Management and Catering.The Administrator of the Technical Department of the CBC Health Services, Dr Nyuonguo Kenneth Nshom, stated that the Certificates are awarded to trainees by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training after an end of course diploma examination. He equally stated that the results for the past three badges of students under the Hotel Management and Catering program have registered a 100% pass score.
It should be noted that the Baptist Vocational training Centre was created in 2004 in Bamenda. Some trades offered at the centre include: Building Construction, Electricity, Carpentry, Painting and Tiling, Computer Aided Designs, Auto Mechanics, Metal Works, and Biomedical Technology among others

The Administrator of the CBC Health Services Resource Centre of Excellence, Yaoundé, Mr Kadzem Claude, has revealed that students on practical experience at the Resource Centre constitute the 4th badge of students emanating from the Hotel Management and Catering program of the Baptist Vocational Training Centre since the program was introduced in 2019.
He went further to state that this is the second time the students from the school are carrying out their practical training at the Resource Centre of Excellence

27 students of the Hotel Management and Catering Program under the Baptist Vocational Training Centre (BVTC), Bamenda of the CBC Health Services are currently undertaking a four-months intensive practical session at the CBC Health Services Resource Centre of Excellence, Mvan Yaoundé.
The practical session which began in March shall last till July, 2023. It is divided into four major areas of focus:
- Food and beverage production
- Front office
- Housekeeping and laundry
- Management of resources

The objective of the practical session is to equip the students with hands-on skills and knowledge that will enable them gain employment immediately they graduate in areas around hotel management and catering but could go on to work as front desk officers in any kind of company as well as be self-employed.

STAFF OF THE YEAR 2021

We concluded the season of giving by recognizing the staff of the year for 2021: Ms Ndimongang Blessing. Blessing joined us in 2021 as a Caterer but had to assume Front Desk and Secretariat responsibilities when the Front Desk staff went on leave. Even though not her main responsibility, she performed so well at the Front Desk and Secretariat, always going the extra mile to ensure that all is okay. Most times she worked extra hours without complaining. She was voted by 70% of her colleagues as Staff of the Year 2021. Congratulations Blessing. 🤝🏽🤝🏽🤝🏽

The CBC Health Services Resource Centre, Yaounde, honored her 5 Best customers/partners for 2021 with End-of-year gifts and recognition worth more 25,000 Frs each. This came during the end of year fellowship of the center. The following Institutions/Programs were recognized and appreciated:
1. Ministry of Social Affairs (MINAS)
2. Private Protestant Education Agency (PPEA)
3. Empowerment and Disability Inclusive Development (EDID) Program
4. Socio-Economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SEEPD) Program
5. Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Program

Mrs Ambe Angelica, a Director at MINAS on behalf of MINAS, expressed her joy in partnering with the CBCHS generally and with the Resource Center on particular. She pledged the continuous support of the ministry to the center. Rev Bapmu Patrick, the Director of PPEA was also very surprised and elated by the gift and promised to use the centre for any program hosted in Yaounde.

At least 20 other individuals and institutions received new year gifts from the center, for their patronage and support to the center.

We look forward to rewarding more collaboration and patronage by the end of 2022.
