The diversity and generosity of Hong Kong’s family businesses. The Harilela’s.

The Harilela family rose from humble beginnings to shape Hong Kong’s multicultural and economic landscape through integrity, perseverance, and philanthropy. Building a global hotel empire, starting with the Holiday Inn Golden Mile, they contributed significantly to education and community initiatives. Aron Harilela continues their innovative legacy with The Hari brand.

What an unforgettable experience we had in September when we welcomed 100 international guests to Hong Kong.

One of the highlights a lunch at Dignity Kitchen, a social enterprise dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities through job opportunities in the food and beverage industry. Founded by the inspiring Koh Seng Choon in 2020, Dignity Kitchen is all about making a difference! This is a great ESG option for any group or individual visiting Hong Kong or Singapore.

Our guests also enjoyed some amazing local experiences, from a scenic sampan on Aberdeen Harbour a trip to Victoria Peak, a private cocktail cruise on Aqua Luna and a delicious dim sum lunch. We said farewell with a gala dinner at Watermark. The perfect spot above Central Pier. Everyone took home a special souvenir - a Chinese scroll with their names specially translated into Chinese.

The weather was perfect, making it all the more special!

It has been a rocky ride for Hong Kong since the end of 2019. But Hong Kong has shown resilience and strength and that it's business and legal frameworks are both open and fully functioning. Just in the last few days Hong Kong has been ranked as the the world's most open economy https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/hong-kong-economy/article/3282647/hong-kong-beats-singapore-no-1-global-ranking-economic-freedom and the 3rd most important financial center in the world https://www.sovereigngroup.com/news/news-and-views/hong-kong-rises-to-third-place-globally-in-global-financial-centres-index/ . Add to this its ranking as the of the world's 3rd safest cities in terms of personal security sitting just behind Singapore and Copenhagen and you can see that Hong Kong is back and we are open for business.

Hong Kong ranked 1st in Asia-Pacific and 3rd globally, surpassing Singapore in the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) 36 report.
