II. Novice CriteriaIn order to allow more novice debaters to have more opportunities to learn, we have set novice category in GDC2022. Any team with both debaters being novice is qualified to break in novice category. The criteria of novice are as follows:
A debater is qualified as novice if: he/she has debated for less than ONE year OR has not broken in more than TWO collegiate level tournaments.
Break in collegiate level tournaments DOES include:
Open break (e.g. ABP Open break)
ESL break (e.g. LSE Open ESL break)
EFL break (e.g. NEADC EFL break)
Pro-am Am break (e.g. PKU Pro-am Am break)
Break in collegiate level tournaments DOES NOT include:
Novice break (e.g. AODC novice break)
Novice tournament break (e.g. UM Novice Cup break)
*GDC2022 Organising Committee reserves the right to determine whether a debater is qualified as novice or not.

Introduction of our special guest, Alfred Goh
Alfred is a three-time Asia Top 10 best speaker, and the Champion of SMU BP IV. He was also the judge of Australs 2018 ESL Finals, WUDC 2015 Open Octo-Finals, WUDC 2019 Open Octo-Finals and ESL Quarter-Finals.
"If I could choose to debate with any debater in the world, Alfred Goh would be the one.
When I participated in my first GDC, Alfred helped me to understand the golden rule of life, that "happiness is often derived through comparison with others".
As a self-trained master, his articles and podcasts made me who I am today as a debater. As a friend, he is easy-going, kind and humorous. As a lecturer, he is inspirational.
Alfred has been a long-term supporter of GDC and I am grateful that he has agreed to provide a free lecture for this edition."
