UPDATE ON FIRE IN TALA - Filenews 15/6

The outbreaks of fires continue non-stop throughout the Pafos district. Some time ago, a new alarm was raised at the Fire Brigade after the notification of a fire in the area of Tala near a residential area.

A strong force from the Pafos Fire Station rushed to the spot, as well as fire trucks of communities in the area and the Monastery of Agios Neophytos. The fire has broken out in an open area with wild vegetation and trees, in close proximity to villas and other developments, and an effort was made to extinguish it before approaching them.

For the time being, the situation is considered to be controlled, according to competent officials, given that a strong firefighting force managed early and arrived in the area, while the calm that prevails today seems to provide the opportunity for firefighting forces to quickly demarcate the perimeter.

Admission free. Paphos Kidney Association will be serving drinks and 'nibbles' and running a raffle.

On the weekend of June 29/30, the Association of Friends of Model Railroading is set for action. They are hosting an open day to showcase their layout from 6p.m. to approximately 8.30 p.m. Both children and adults alike will be captivated by the technical intricacies of the layout which replicates the Swiss Rhaetian Railway (RhB), linking the towns of St. Moritz and Zermatt via the iconic mountain railway, the Glacier Express. Over 20 locomotives will navigate the tracks with their carriages aglow.

Entry is free. We are delighted to have been asked to provide refreshments, including drinks and pastries (all at a reasonable price!). We will also also holding a raffle and The original Swiss "Original Railway" RhB is contributing generous gifts.
