D-Zóna (Dočasná pracovní zóna) was officially opened in February 2018 as an autonomous space for (self-)educational, knowledge-sharing, creative, and co-working activities. We run collectively according to non-hierarchical principles, and we housed the Radical Library and the Red Second-hand Free-bookshop, providing space of meeting and exchange for various leftist and anarchist collectives. In order to start our Critical Readings book reading club, we started the decision-making process to choose the book, which is as follows:

1. First we have a poll to decide on the topic of the book
2. Then once we have the result, people send book candidates on the topic chosen, and we have another poll to decide between all of them.

In order to make accessible the poll to people that are not on Facebook, we publish the polls in our internal messaging platform. In order to have access, write to us and we will send detailed information.

Today Murray Bookchin would have had his 100 birthday.

About a year ago in the Critical Readings group, we were reading his work, and we want to remember his words in this post:

"To speak of ‘limits to growth’ under a capitalistic market economy is as meaningless as to speak of limits of warfare under a warrior society. The moral pieties, that are voiced today by many well-meaning environmentalists, are as naive as the moral pieties of multinationals are manipulative. Capitalism can no more be ‘persuaded’ to limit growth than a human being can be ‘persuaded’ to stop breathing. Attempts to ‘green’ capitalism, to make it ‘ecological’, are doomed by the very nature of the system as a system of endless growth."

"We have to give people the freedom to choose lifestyles and material satisfactions that suit their needs, and we have to redefine need itself. We can't redefine need among ghetto people by telling them we should all give up our TV sets or automobiles: we have to tell them there's enough to go around, now let's talk about using it sensibly."
