Appreciating 2024! ⭐️ Continuing towards the end of 2024..
MALAYSIA 🇲🇾 Part 1 : In Kuala Lumpur, OFA collaborated with to curate Opera À la Carte , at the intimate KL City Opera Studio, that brought together nine extraordinary artists from five
different countries 🇲🇾 🇺🇦 🇫🇷 🇹🇭 🇨🇳 . The performance was a vivid display of global talent,with each performance enriched the audience’s experience with diverse cultural influences, highlighting OFA’s global mission. Featured singers were and 🇲🇾, pianist Vlad Demchenko , Countertenor 🇨🇳, mezzo Sopran .alu 🇫🇷 , Soprano Priya Pariyachart . 🇹🇭 Accompanied by the talented Dr 🎹

The event had also received the honour of audience members from Ukraine, French and Thai Embassy, and prof. Tazul Tajjudin from the UiTM. A special feature of ‘s Wang Chenweis song 水莲花 was also made for the Martinee. 🍸

As a part of the closing, had also given a short interview with , sharing about her life as opera director. 🗣️

The Audience had once again privilege to enjoy the VR feature of ‘s André BückerOrfeo in the Underworld, which had proven that it is not for the faint hearted. 😱🥽

Appreciating 2024 🎁🎄: Voices of Compassion, Kampot, Cambodia 🇰🇭

This August 2024, OFA had the honor of hosting a humanitarian vocal music workshop in collaboration with the Khmer Cultural Development Institute (KCDI), with .alu and 🎶 creating the workshop programme, and on accompaniment 🎹 . Through the universal language of music, we united to inspire change, foster community, and share our cultures. 🌎

A special thank you to the Singapore Embassy in Phnom Penh 🇸🇬 for joining us and supporting this event, as well as the Austrian Embassy in Bangkok 🇦🇹 for their generous support of Austrian Soprano Anija Lombard . Thank you to our operations executive for bringing us together, Catherine Geach and the Heads of the KCDI for having us . 🎓

As we look ahead to the holiday season, we are reminded of the importance of compassion, unity, and harmony. Let’s continue to make the world a better place, one note at a time. 🎵🥰❤️

Happy Holidays! 🎄 As we embrace this season of giving, we continue to appreciate the artists, performances, and opportunities that have blessed our year. 🎶 🎁

BANGKOK 🇹🇭 Phantom Flow - An Operatic Rap Odyssey PT 1: On August 3, 2024, Mahidol University was transformed into a sonic dreamscape where genres collided in the most exhilarating way. Phantom Flow - An Operatic Rap Odyssey took center stage, captivating an audience with a spectacular fusion of opera, pop, musical, and rap. This genre-defying performance has undoubtedly set a new benchmark for the musical landscape in Thailand.

Inspired through the personal motivation of bringing people together by , OFA has collaborated with her as an artistic director to create this wonderful production, starring rap influencer . Accompanying them was an ensemble of Thailand’s finest musical talents. Pianist and violinist Nipakorn Limcharoen .lim laid down the classical foundations with their flawless interpretations, creating a rich tapestry of sound. Meanwhile, a stellar lineup of vocalists, including Art Aditep (Tenor), Anchee Manasanun , Jing Auras (both alumni of The Voice 4), Aoy Amornphat (from ASIA7), New Kittin (Tenor and Vocal Coach), and Win Wasin (from The Golden Song), brought the house down with their breathtaking performances.
The stage concept was creatively put together by and , with the goal to fuse the various genres.

Adding to the spectacle were the stunning visuals created by The Creative Sync (Su-Yin Mah), which transported the audience into a fantastical world where the past and future of music met in harmony.

The Audience had also enjoyed the exhilarating pre-show of “Orfeo and Euridice” on Opera VR, directed by Staatsintendant and Director . 🥽

About Donna: “A Vienna-based pianist, is known for her versatility on stage. Not confined to solo performances, she also shines as a Liedpianist and chamber music pianist. Her repertoire seamlessly blends classical and contemporary pieces. Donna’s musical journey began with a triumph at the International Art Festival for Keyboard Instruments in Shenzhen at the age of 11, a success that propelled her to move to Vienna in 2016.

Immersing herself in studies at the Richard Wagner Konservatorium and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Donna sharpened her skills under the guidance of renowned pianists like Tim Ovens, Hafez Babashahi, Stephen Delany, Michael Lipp, and Veronika Weinhandl.

Beyond her solo pursuits, Donna serves as a Accompanist in various operas, theater and Art songs productions. She has shared the stage with accomplished artists such as Maria Kosa, Martha Harreiter, Anna Bondarenko, Chiara Sciliano, Jubin Amiri, and collaborated with the Vienna Klangforum in the Wiener Konzerthaus for contemporary music concerts. Donna’s dynamic presence in both classical and modern genres underscores her commitment to musical diversity and collaboration.”

“Florence Chong, a Malaysian Coloratura Soprano, began her musical journey as a pianist. She received a full scholarship to pursue the Diploma in Music course at SEGI College Subang Jaya, Malaysia, and graduated with distinction in 2011. In 2013, she was accepted into the prestigious BA in Vocal Studies at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin. She was awarded this degree, which is validated by Trinity College Dublin, with first-class honours in 2017. Florence was then awarded a Master’s Degree in Solo Singing with cm laude, specializing in Opera Performance, by the Conservatorium Maastricht, the Netherlands, in 2020, where she studied with Yvonne Schiffelers and Abigail Richards. Florence was one of the young artists of The Fat Lady opera group in the Netherlands for the season 2021/22, where she was coached by Tamir Chasson.

Florence has sung in numerous opera productions across Ireland, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Italy, Bosnia, and Malaysia. Her repertoire includes notable roles such as Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen, Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone, Suor Genovieffa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, and more. Besides her opera engagements, Florence has left a notable impression on international audiences as a captivating recital artist. She was a featured soloist at several prominent music festivals including the Klang Music Festival in Malaysia, Festival de la Musique in France, Festival Via Musica, and Grachten Festival in the Netherlands, among others. Florence was also one of the featured singers on the CD album “A Musical Portrait” by Hans Leenders, where she recorded two compositions by Hans in 2022.

In recent years, Florence has been traveling extensively, maintaining an active performance schedule spanning between Malaysia and Europe.”

“Kant Lormsomboon, alumni of 🇦🇹 is a versatile musician, educator, and passionate advocate for using music to give back. Starting piano at age 5, he trained with Thai artists like Prof. Nat Yontararak and has since performed at iconic venues including Carnegie Hall, Wiener Konzerthaus, and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Kant has collaborated with renowned artists such as Grammy-winner Kenneth Tarver and participated in charity initiatives like “ART for CANCER,” raising funds through his performances. A concert soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral keyboardist, Kant also teaches at the Piano Academy of Bangkok while pursuing his Doctoral degree at Chulalongkorn University, constantly blending performance with pedagogy and community impact.”

AUGUST 1 live in Singapore AUSBRUCH 🇸🇬🎶 Artist Video Feature @langobardin 🎤 Anija from Vorarlberg, Austria, will be singing pieces of Mendelssohn-Brahms-Carl Maria von Weber 🔥🇦🇹🇩🇪 Tickets under: https://www.operafestivalasia.com/ausbruchsg Anija Lombard (Age 24) is an Austrian Soprano with South African roots. She started her musical education with a pre-bachelor singing at the Kunstuniversität Graz, Austria. Presently, she pursues pedagogical studies in classical singing at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien as well as the artistic bachelor singing at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel under the guidance of Lena Lootens. She did an exchange in the MUK Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien university in Vienna. She is a singer in the MM Choir Academy of La Monnaie/De Munt. Previous performances were the Christmas concerts of the Vienna State Opera choir academy and the Klassikfestival Kirchstetten, where she sang the soprano solo in the choir of Rossini’s opera “Il Turco in Italia.” Last year, Anija also got the opportunity to perform in the Klarafestival-Box with Tuomas Kangas on the piano, as well as the Bregenzer Festspiele where she sang in the choir of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly”. Before that she sang Bastienne in “Bastien et Bastienne” by Mozart and “Sandmann” in Humperdinck’s “Hänsel und Gretel” at the Orff Theater in Vienna. In May 2024 she sang Susanna in Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro” at the Conservatory of Brussels in a production of Heather Tan and Vincent Horsten. Last summer she received a scholarship for the Schubertiade Masterclass given by Robert Holl. In Season 24/25 she joins the ensemble at Budapest Opera House.
