𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢 crafts sonic bridges between worlds, weaving together the haunting resonance of Javanese gamelan and algorithmic music composition. His sound palette is filled with stochastic rhythms, the metallic timbre of the gamelan, dense soundscapes, and a large cluster of drones. Whether on the immersive stage of a music theater production or sculpting interactive sound installations for the web, his music pulses with dialectics between tradition and innovation, creating works that resonate across cultural and temporal divides.

𝐇𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 is a group of weirdos from different musical backgrounds doing heavy lifting music inspired by food, folklores, linguistic dialects and hugs. REAL HUGS ONLY.

𝐤𝐣𝐣𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐞𝐫 is the garbled moniker of Jin Jing, multimedia artist and co-founder of AN(8)X. Pervaded by syncopated rhythms, dimensional changes, visceral sounds and soul-gripping melodic elements, her selections are often toying with unfathomable feelings and tensions. Like an infernal machine devoted to surpassing limits and mutates with each newly unveiled musical landscape, kjjabber reinforces layers of perception and plays with short attention spans behind the decks, constantly hinting at the beginnings of an enchanting climax that never arrives, to keep the listener under control and better drown them at will.

𝐌𝐮𝐦𝐮 is a Jakarta-born, Berlin-based DJ and 1 of 3 Kretekklang co-founders, whose deep passion for industrial sounds and hard-hitting percussion has shaped his ever evolving love for music.

🤍 DECOLONOIZE PRESENTS 🤍 MERANGKAK - presentation by Moyann Ayu Larasati .unbathe

In Bahasa Indonesia, merangkak means to crawl. In this context, it embodies the state of being in-between, a transitional process - as one learns to walk or is no longer able to.
We face uncertainty on a daily basis, but how is the uncertainty caused by authoritative power affecting us as humans? Is the system we live in coming from a place of humanity?
This presentation will show drafts and works of Moyann Larasati, capturing feelings of uncertainty, detachment and hope.

About the artist:
Indonesian-based interdisciplinary artist Moyann Ayu Larasati, or Mojan Larasati, has been honing her skills for music and visual art. Moyann has been producing music since 2014 and initiated a fuzzy post-punk band, Bananach. They also dig into illustration and explore many mediums for their visual works, from paper to canvas to even skin as a tattoo. As an artist, Moyann’s works are mostly focused on sociopolitics and humanitarian issues; their works "define complex emotions, the dark side of humanity, and sensitivity, as well as a political statement," they said.

𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗯𝘆 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗢𝗜𝗭𝗘:
Our collective invites you to a panel talk and Q&A, where we’ll discuss our work and share insights from our experiences in Berlin’s cultural landscape.

𝗽𝗼𝗲𝘁𝘀:
Anita Nguyen (jadegreenriver) .space, is a Berlin-based artist, designer, and musician who combines interdisciplinary media ranging from poetry and sound design to theory. Their work is influenced by themes of resistance, personal experience, and trauma-informed writing.

Bodi (they/he) is a Black trans disabled artist. His words are inspired by q***r love, romance, ancestral stories and dreams. Bodi’s art invites you to feel the sweet, the spicy, the grotesque and the sour of life.

𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰:
Berîtan is an anti-imperialist centraka punk band made up of migrant bodies in a collective cry, a need to translate dignified rage into joy and noise, created with friends connected in political spaces in different territories (Central America, Guatemala and Ecuador as the centre of the world), who coincided in the anti-colonial movement in Berlin in 2022.
The name Berîtan is in honour of the guerrilla woman in Kurdistan who preferred to martyr herself and end her life in resistance rather than be imprisoned by the Turkish army. Berîtan claims the symbol of resistance and struggle in increasingly fascist German territories. Their sound is anti-music influenced by genres from Mesoamerican raw punk to reggaeton. Their lyrics are collective compositions that address political themes that run through them, such as the anti-border, anti-extractivist, anti-patriarchal struggle and historical memory.

DECOLONOIZE presents
✨OY (Avantpop, Electronica, Afrobeats)
with Nkech and MDT

24.10.2024 CONCERT | POETRY at

Decolonoize Berlin is inviting you to a night of poetry & music. Our goal as a collective is to create spaces that recognize and support BIPoC artists. We design spaces of mindfulness where we create a better world and promote meaningful exchange. As in every event of this year’s poetry and concert series, we open with powerful contributions from poets creating an atmosphere of reflection and empathy. It will be followed by the Duo OY’s danceable and colourful show — a celebration of diversity and full of positive energy.

Poets:
MDT
MDT’s writings of notions and poetry are deeply rooted in nature and indigenous heritage, reflecting the rich tapestry of an intertwined cultural background and intriguing travels.

Nkech
NKW, or Nkechukwu, is a multi-disciplinary writer, artist, curator- human hybrid.
“I am a storyteller first, inspired by patterns journeys, and the exploration of communal and self-identity within the human experience”

Band:
OY
The Berlin-based duo with roots in Ghana and Switzerland thrill audiences on stages around the world at festivals such as Eurockéenes in France, Rec Beat in Brazil, or clubs in downtown Cairo and New York. Singer/keyboardist Joy Frempong and producer/drummer Melodydreamer have been making music across all musical, linguistic and cultural boundaries for a decade. Therefore the title of their current album “World Wide We” came quite naturally. Polyglot negotiations of political and personal themes are musically woven into catchy songs. From Electronica Afrobeat Avant-Pop to Hip-Hop, Trap and Jazz - the music of OY is more versatile and unified, stylistically more open and independent than ever. “World Wide We” is an open invitation to dance all clichés into the ground at the duo’s acclaimed concerts.

We regret to inform you that Ebaa Monther’s performance this Thursday has been cancelled due to unexpected circumstances. In an email, Ebaa shared that after travelling to the Occupied Syrian Golan for family matters, she was informed that she could not return to Germany. Despite holding a valid permit, the occupation’s restrictions prevent her from crossing borders without a new visa, leaving her stuck.

Ebaa expressed her deep frustration and sent her sincere apologies.
We will collaborate in the future and help her to return as soon as possible. ❤️

We stand in solidarity with Ebaa and all those affected by the harsh realities of the occupation!

Were happy to announce that we found another artists to perform that night tho:

Enana .music is the Sumerian goddess of love, war, s*x and fertility Much like their name, Enana is a multi-dimensional artist. Enana is a trans non-binary Rapper, singer-songwriter, performer and activist whose artistic engine has always been fueled by their quest for freedom and social justice. In the last years they have been nurturing a unique sound that represents their intersectional existence being born in Damascus and based in Berlin since 2015.

We are very excited to have this little gem coming up for you this month! Spooky season is approaching and there’s no better way to celebrate than with some dark post punk by our beloved from the Netherlands! We had the pleasure to have them for our first Decolonoize Fest in 2022 and now we’re bringing them back for you 🖤

Lifeless Past from The Netherlands blends darkwave, postpunk, garage and goth-rock to create a unique dark musical landscape.
The band consists of Satori (guitars, drumbeats and vocals) together with Brandon on percussions. Both members are currently living in the Netherlands but they are born and raised on the island of Curaçao. Their cultural background can also be heard in their compositions and in some of their songs which are sung in Spanish. The band was founded in 2012 and they have a handfull of releases under their belt.
The group’s unparalleled approach to postpunk music is characterized by its steady and energetic drums, cascading melodic guitars, ta***ic basslines and bone chilling dark vocals.
