1st Asiatica Berlin, Encounters with Asian Cinema derives from the Asiatica, Encounters with Asian Cinema, (formerly called Asiaticafilmmediale) which is held annually in Italy and this year will celebrate its 16th edition. Asiatica, Encounters with Asian Cinema was founded in 2000 in Rome by the Mnemosyne Cultural Association in order to create an original channel of communication between Rome an
d most important Asian cities. Focused to changes and new possibilities of confrontation among cultures, the Mnemosyne Cultural Association believes films are the ideal medium to renew and strengthen the dialogue between East and West.
1st Asiatica Berlin, Encounters with Asian Cinema will be co-produced in collaboration with The New Century Culture, a Berlin based Chinese-European Culture and Media Exchange Company founded in 2012. Together with its sister companies in Beijing (founded in 1994) and Vienna (founded in 1996) The New Century Culture is one of the leading promoters of Chinese Culture in Europe and European Culture in China. Several projects have been produced since 2012, i.e. concerts in Europe and China, movie festivals in Beijing and Berlin (2012, 2013 and 2014).
