For the second contribution of the Ancient Sound series, SafiLab invites Husam Al-Ali, singer, oud player, and music educator from Homs, Syria. His work bridges Arabic classical traditions with contemporary sensibilities, offering performances rooted in emotion, poetry, and deep musical memory.
The evening will present songs and compositions inspired by Umm Kulthum, Mohammed Abd El Wahab, and Abdo Dagher, performed by:
🎶 Husam Al-Ali – vocal, Violin & oud
🎻 Ayman Hilal – violin
🥁 Hakam Wahbi – percussion
🎤 Abeer Ali – guest vocal
Husam began his musical path in Syria, where he performed with his ensemble across Aleppo, Latakia, Beirut, and Damascus, including at the Damascus Opera House and on his own TV program “Samaae Ugarit”. Since moving to Berlin, he has led the Al-Ali Ensemble, dedicated to bringing the classical music of the Middle East to wider audiences and reimagining its performance in a global context.
Join us for a night of lyrical depth and musical dialogue, where poetry, voice, and improvisation meet under the spirit of Ancient Sound.
