Taking place on the Kraftwerk main floor, this collaboration presents three artists from the festival family whose approaches reflect the breadth and intensity of the Atonal spirit.⁠

Berlin Atonal ’25: Night IV – The fourth night spanned ecstatic overload and intricate experiment. Amnesia Scanner & Freeka Tet premiered S.L.O.T.H., a hyper-sensory clash of serrated beats and grotesque visuals, while Mark Fell & Okkyung Lee staged a dialogue of precision electronics and fierce cello. Sofii debuted with fog-laden works, Ego Death (Aho Ssan & Resina) bent sound into unstable forms, Purelink expanded their warmth with Mika Oki, and Nina Garcia opened with guitar intensity.⁠

Lechuga Zafiro & Verraco’s Hyperverbena shook the Third Surface before Chuquimamani-Condori as DJ E and everything upful closed in rhythm and resistance. Basma Al-Sharif’s O, Persecuted and Cyprien Gaillard’s Retinal Rivalry expanded the program before club sets pushed into the early hours.⁠

Charging up for Saturday, Night IV of Berlin Atonal ’25. The big debut of Amnesia Scanner and Freeka Tet’s S.L.O.T.H., a hyper-sensory clash of serrated beats, fractured voices and grotesque visuals. Ego Death (Aho Ssan & Resina), Purelink with Mika Oki, Sofii and Mark Fell and Okkyung Lee on the main stage.

Downstairs on Third Surface, Lechuga Zafiro & Verraco present Hyperverbena, Chuquimamani-Condori appears as DJ E, and everything upful bring Gavsborg, Kat 7, Tóke and groundsound for a rhythm-driven finale. Cyprien Gaillard’s Retinal Rivalry disorients in the Listening Room. Club sets from Daisy Ray, Kettel, Gombeen & Doygen, Nexus, MBODJ, EMA, sofiii, Katatonic Silentio, Anthony Linell b2b DJ Red b2b Neel, Animistic Beliefs, Facta & K-LONE, Pinch, Martyn and Emily Jeanne carry the night late.

Berlin Atonal ’25: Night II – The second night pushed sound to its physical limits. emptyset premiered dissever with Marcel Weber’s light design, Carrier unveiled Rhythm Immortal with visuals by Riyo Nemeth, and Ziúr & Sandi’s Home with Martina Bertoni and Sara Persico reflected on belonging.

Moin brought guitar-driven force to the Third Surface before Mohammad Adam’s sub-heavy atmospheres took hold. Djrum opened the night with an improvised ambient set, Malibu drifted into dream-state textures, and Jeremy Shaw’s Phase Shifting Index unsettled the Listening Room.

For Night III starting now, we have Lord Spikeheart & NMR, GRIEND, John T. Gast, Billy Bultheel, bela, YHWH Nailgun, Rashad Becker and more.

Getting ready for night three of Berlin Atonal ’25: Lord Spikeheart and NMR debut REIGN, a charged audio-visual work inspired by the Mau Mau rebellion. Puce Mary and Rainy Miller present GRIEND for the first time, colliding harsh noise and cinematic atmospheres. bela’s Korean Love Sonnets moves between intimacy and abrasion, and Rashad Becker’s The Currency of an Urgent Moment deepens his investigations into synthetic voices and psychoacoustic illusion. Billy Bultheel’s The Fugue State opens as an intallative performance tracing collapse as sonic and political condition. On the Third Surface, YHWH Nailgun bring visceral live energy before DJ Marcelle’s mischievous collages, and John T. Gast. Ben Russell & Guillaume Cailleau’s Direct Action screens on the Projektionsfläche, and Jenna Sutela’s Pond Brain resonates in the Listening Room. Club sets from Triš, NVST, Wrecked Lightship (live), St Agnis (live), gyrofield, NEUX, Civic Instruction, Rrose, Ana Rs, Mia b2b Reni, Djrum, and Vlada b2b Skee Mask fracture the night into the early hours.

Berlin Atonal ’25: Night I – The festival rolled into existence with a sequence of world premiere performances that set the tone for the big week to come. Carmen Villain presented a new work with Johanna Orellana on flutes and Eivind Lønning on trumpet,Bendik Giske & Sam Barker unveiled there new collaboration and Sonic Youth’s Lee Ronaldo, Peder Mannerfelt and Yonatan G*t with Leah Singer got together on stage for the first time. NYX presented an expanded vocal performance that shook the foundation of the powerplant while Ghosted opened the Third Surface stage with dense rhythmic arcs, and Richard Sides closed it down with unruly dissassemblage.

For Night II starting now, we have Djrum, Malibu, Ziúr & Sandi, Carrier and emptyset with Moin and Mohammad Adam on Third Surface.

The latest chapter of Billy Bultheel’s A Short History of Decay () unfolds through a hybrid of concert, sculpture, and text, centred around a monumental pulpit-like tower installation.

The Fugue State presents newly composed music for flute, bass, and harpsichord, as well as fragments of speech inspired by Emil Cioran and Henri Michaux, to trace a line of survival and enchantment amidst ruins. Carved objects, reclaimed wood, and protest graffiti inscribe contemporary upheaval into ancient ritual space.

Djrum () is the moniker of Felix Manuel, a producer and musician whose work moves fluidly across jazz, ambient, techno, and modern classical territories. Formally trained in the jazz tradition, he draws on influences ranging from Keith Jarrett to Alice Coltrane, developing a practice defined by emotional candour and sonic complexity.

For Berlin Atonal 2025, Djrum presents a sculptural, improvised performance built around custom-made machines and instruments. Moving away from his earlier, sample-driven and dance floor-oriented material, this new work unfolds as an ambient, beatless exploration of sound and space.

Berlin Atonal announces the full details for its expanded art programme taking place as part of this year’s festival edition. Third Surface is the newest structural experiment from Berlin Atonal following its landmark exhibitions Metabolic Rift and Universal Metabolism. Embedded within the festival as a hybrid exhibition format - part salon, part performance space - where artworks, music and experience unfold in dialogue with their setting and with each other. Evoking the improvised nocturnal venues of Weimar Berlin, Third Surface proposes a model for how nightlife might be reimagined: beyond the logic of hedonism, apart from the language of retreat. The works shown act not as declarations but as cues. ⁠

The diverse sonic worlds that Carmen Villain () has built over her career are shaped by her natural curiosity of sound. Her music hits a sweet spot between dub’s blunt rhythmic lilt and the cosmic expanse of fourth-world atmospherics. She is in a period of continued experimentation with dub-infused rhythms, abstracted textures and a continued fascination for the sonic potential found in woodwinds and brass.

For Berlin Atonal she will present mostly new music and works in progress, letting us glimpse her current sonic fascinations and offering a preview of her upcoming album release. She will be joined by some of Norways most singular instrumentalists: Johanna Orellana () on flutes and Eivind Lønning () on trumpet.

Chuquimamani-Condori () is a Pakajaqueño Aymara artist born in California’s Inland Empire, whose work fuses traditional drum and ceremonial music with vivid synths, warped folk melodies and dense noise.

As DJ E, they deliver boundary-liquefying DJ sets that combine sonic cacophony, astonishing emotional vulnerability, and a raw overload of textures. For Berlin Atonal 25, DJ E brings one of their charged, unpredictable sets which liquidate the distinction between tradition and futurity, chaos and communion.

The assembly of sound summons a presence intent on disrupting those who accumulate value, profit, and power through extractive structures.

This performance in Tresor explores our proximity to such systems and asks us to make a choice: solidarity or resistance?
