Feuerwerk Einbeck - International Piano Academy International Winter Piano Academy FEUERWERK is an anual invitation-only academy for selected young pianists from around the world.

It is organized by Konzert- & Kulturfreunde Einbeck e.V. and led by artistic director Gintaras Januševičius. FEUERWERK is an exclusive invitation-only academy, closed to public applications. Eleven participants are selected based on their outstanding talent and achievements during the past year and recommended by partnering competitions, academies, foundations, and universities. Its first edition

in 2017 featured pianists from Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, Canada, and the Czech Republic. Since then it hosted three more successful editions. Visit www.klavierstadt.de/feuerwerk to meet all our students and follow the academy.

CLASS OF 2025 // GEVORG MATINYAN 🇦🇲

Gevorg Matinyan (2002) grew up in his hometown of Yerevan and moved to Hamburg at the age of 17. He has received numerous awards at European competitions, including "Piano Talents" in Milan and the Riga International Competition for Young Pianists. He is a scholarship holder of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and also received the Performing Arts Scholarship from AGBU. He is currently studying with Prof. Hubert Rutkowski at the Hamburg University of Music and with Prof. Philippe Raskin at the Académie Européenne de Musique. The invitation to our academy was granted to him as a special prize of the Riga International Competition for Young Pianists 2024.

CLASS OF 2025 // FREDERIKE PRÄGER 🇩🇪

Frederike Präger (2009) is a multiple prizewinner at prestigious youth competitions, including the Bundeswettbewerb "Jugend musiziert," the Riga International Competition for Young Pianists, and the Grotrian-Steinweg Piano Competition in Braunschweig. Her concert tours have taken her to venues such as the Oldenburg State Theatre, Richmond Castle in Braunschweig, and the Mozart Hall in Hamburg. She has been musically guided by Gintaras Januševičius at the Isernhagen & Burgwedel Music School from the very beginning. The invitation to our academy was granted to her as a special prize of the „Einbecker Klavierfrühling“ competition in 2024.

CLASS OF 2025 // JINHYUNG PARK 🇰🇷

Jinhyung Park (1996) is a prizewinner at prestigious piano competitions such as the Prague Spring, Cleveland, Hilton Head, Jaén, and the M. K. Čiurlionis Piano Competition. He has performed with renowned orchestras including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin, and the Slovak Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, he won the Yamaha Scholarship in Korea and the Shinhan Music Award. He is currently studying in the solo class at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Medias with Prof. Arie Vardi. The invitation to our academy was granted to him as a special prize of the M. K. Čiurlionis Piano and Organ Competition 2023.

CLASS OF 2025 // ECE ATAÇ 🇹🇷

Ece Ataç (2002) is the winner of the Grand Prix at the Aegio Piano Competition 2023 and a multiple prizewinner in competitions such as IMC London and "Edelweiss." She has performed at renowned venues including the Vienna Musikverein, Ehrbar Hall, and the Presidential Symphony Orchestra Hall in Ankara. Additionally, she was selected as one of 21 artists for the "Female Stars of Tomorrow" project at the 51st Istanbul Music Festival. She is currently studying under Prof. Klaus Sticken at the Music and Arts University of Vienna. The invitation to our academy was granted to her as a special prize of the Klaipėda Piano Masters academy 2024.

CLASS OF 2025 // JOEL MADALIŃSKI-ARTUR 🇩🇪🇵🇱

Joel Madaliński-Artur (2006) was born in Freudenstadt, Germany to a Polish-Angolan family. At the age of ten, he began his education at the Schloss Belvedere Music Gymnasium for gifted children in Weimar. Recently, he won the "Primo Premio Assoluto" at the International Piano Competition in Rome, the Grand Prix at the Premio Scarlatti Music Competition in Vilnius, and first prize at the Grotrian-Steinweg Piano Competition in Braunschweig. He is currently mentored by Prof. Dr. Ludmila Kasjanenko. Invitation to join our academy was granted to him as a special prize at the Premio Scarlatti Music Competition in Vilnius.

CLASS OF 2025 // NORAH WANTON 🇮🇹🇨🇺

Norah Wanton (2009) is an accomplished musician active as a pianist, guitarist, and singer. Despite her young age, she has already embarked on concert tours to France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, and other countries. She has won over 40 competition prizes across the USA, Japan, Uzbekistan, and Europe. She is currently studying at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona with Michael Davidov and at the Barenboim Foundation Orchestral Studies Academy in Seville with Eldar Nebolsin and Juan Pérez Floristán. The scholarship to visit the “Feuerwerk” was granted to her for multiple accomplishments within 2022-2024.

CLASS OF 2025 // IHOR CHYCHKANOV 🇺🇦

Ihor Chychkanov (1995) was a prolific performer and served as the soloist at the Kharkiv Philharmonic before the devastating invasion of his homeland. He is a multiple prizewinner of youth competitions and a finalist of the Yamaha Competition in Dubai. In 2020, he graduated from the Kharkiv I. Kotlyarevskyy National University of Arts. Currently, he resides in Germany, pursuing his career as a freelance artist. He receives private mentorship from Gintaras Januševičius. The invitation to our academy was granted to him as a special prize of the Klaipėda Piano Masters academy 2024.

CLASS OF 2025 // JULIE HAISMANN 🇫🇷

Julie Haismann (2003) achieved remarkable success in 2024, winning the Grand Prix and two special awards at the Malmö Piano Competition, as well as the top prize at the Concerto Competition of the Conservatoire régional de Paris. She is the artistic director of the Festival de l’Arcouest and an accomplished performer, regularly presenting solo and chamber music recitals across Europe. A graduate of the Conservatoire Supérieur de Lyon and the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the Ingesund Piano Center in Sweden under the guidance of Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist. The invitation to our academy was granted to her as a special prize of the Malmö Piano Competition 2024.

CLASS OF 2025 // LUCA-STEFAN AVRAM 🇷🇴🇩🇪

New year, new class! With the 9th „Feuerwerk“ academy starting on April 5, today we start presenting the eleven talented pianists selected for this edition.

Luca-Stefan Avram (2008) is a multiple prizewinner at notable youth competitions, including the Piano Concerto Competition in Falkensee, the Dussmann Competition in Berlin, and the Bach Competition in Köthen. Born in Bacău, Romania, he began his musical education at the age of six in Iserlohn. Since 2023, he has been attending the "Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach" Music Gymnasium and the Hanns Eisler Music University in Berlin. His concert tours have taken him to the Stadthalle Falkensee, the C. Bechstein Centrum Berlin, and the Brandenburg Theater. The invitation to our academy was awarded to him as a special prize of the C. Bechstein Piano Competition in Berlin.

HANSE FESTIVAL in Einbeck closed today with the outstanding performance by Saulė Norvaišaitė (class 2020) and Nicolas Absalom (class 2022). The programme featured works by Bach, Schubert, Liszt, Ravel, Čiurlionis, and Narvilaitė.

BEAUTIFUL REUNION at the Hanse Festival in Einbeck! Phoebe Papandrea (class 2024), Maik Kronhart (class 2022), Mariia Kurhuzova (class 2021), and our artistic director Gintaras Januševičius met for two concerts at the TangoBrücke in Einbeck and Klinik Dr. Barner in Braunlage to celebrate the cultural heritage of the Hanseatic League. The programme included works by Händel, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Grieg, and other composers from Hanseatic cities for piano solo, four-, six-, and eight hands. Feuerwerk vibes all over the place!

FEUERWERK 2025

Good morning, World! Today we are happy to confirm that the class of 2025 was selected and all pianists have confirmed their participation. This time the class features 11 performers from Armenia, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, South Korea, Spain, and Turkey. We are thankful to our partners Lithuanian Music Competitions, Klaipėda Piano Masters, Malmö Piano Competition, Carl Bechstein Stiftung, Vilnius International Youth Music Competition "Premio Scarlatti", Riga International Competition for Young Pianists who helped select outstanding musicians to visit Einbeck in April 2025. We will introduce all members of the class one by one in the upcoming months - stay tuned!

Greetings to our partners in Lithuania, the Lithuanian Music Competitions, for one more inspiring edition of the beloved Balys Dvarionas competition for young pianists and violinists. We were happy to follow the concerto finals online, witnessing a brilliant performance by our alumna Milda Marija Kiškūnaitė, who placed 3rd. Our special prize - full scholarship to attend “Feuerwerk 2025” goes to the winner of the competition Toby Olias Brechler from Rostock. Looking forward to host you in the Klavierstadt Einbeck!

Our academy finished on Sunday, however the pictures are still flowing. Jonas Šopa presents his last post from the 2024 academy, featuring the masterclass at the Mendelssohn-Musikschule Einbeck and the Gala concert at the St. Sixti Northeim. Our Story

International Winter Piano Academy FEUERWERK is an annual invitation-only academy for selected young pianists from around the world. It is organized by Konzert- & Kulturfreunde Einbeck e.V. and led by artistic director Gintaras Januševičius. FEUERWERK is an exclusive invitation-only academy, closed to public applications. Eleven participants are selected based on their outstanding talent and achievements during the past year and recommended by partnering competitions, academies, foundations, and universities. Its first two editions featured pianists from Canada, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and the United Kingdom. During the academy students attend piano lessons and lectures, benefit from individual physiotherapy sessions, and work in a recording studio.
