Was bedeutet aber nun q***rer Elektro?

Le Salon Queertronique - an odyssey through musical q***rness
Back then, when q***rness was exciting because there was no theoretical overload, people were forced to perform their true selves protected and exposed by the moonlight. It was a time where the need was so massive, that the dancefloor became the place of q***rformance. All that sissiness hidden in daylight was taken to the club and thrown through the masses. It was the time of the disco divas, black female voices moaning and yearning painfully and joyfully over a beat that had to be danced by the people understanding the message beneath.
The disco clubs saved and took many lives. They saved them from su***de, because finally q***rs could find one another for any kind of cum-munication between two bodies. They took them, because of AIDS.
The q***r club knew many varieties, mostly people will focus on the US-american q***r history, because disco became the musical voice of q***r clubs and gatherings all over the world, but actually there were so many musical styles in being enjoyed in different cultures, that it would be a pity to say that q***r music was just disco or Chicago House.
The possibilities to produce music got vast, once electronic music pioneers helped creating devices to facilitate the process. All of a sudden there were so many ways to express so many different musical atmospheres, sounds and beats. Thus resulting into 2 different club options: the commercial gay scene, filled with cisgender gay males, paying proper money and hiring often very known cisgender straight male DJs, still focusses on House Music. The alternative q***r scene, with a variety of sexualities and identities, offers a whole variety of music styles, but hires mostly amateur DJs that don´t get properly paid.
There is obviously a gap for DJs that don´t fit inside the gender binary and that are just too good to spin for nothing. That´s why inside the big gap you will find many transgender and nonbinary DJs that come from the q***r scene, who have a distinct musical vision and who just don´t get booked.
This was the time when Saeleen Bouvar, transgender female DJ, created the idea of a salon. The salon is a long forgotten female tradition where the “salonnière”, the female mastermind behind the gathering, invited poets, musicians, romanciers and performance artists to show some of their skills to a selected public. The “Salon de Bouvar” would be a place where trans DJs would be invited to show their skills and to colour the salon in their own style and atmosphere.
For Queerness to exist, you need the q***r body, you need the tradition of what it is in its core. To unite the styles, Saeleen saw the importance of highlighting electronic music with all of its forgotten q***r vocabulary. “Le Salon Queertronique” was born.
Every DJ has its own vision and journey through music. You can have Techno, House, Electroclash or just plain Disco. The Salon is a club project which invites a new DJ on each event. Each event is a new chapter to a new form of dance music. It is a way to read q***rness through the eyes of gender non-conformity. The only element which never changes is the Salonnière. She remains as the mediatress between all different DJs and styles, serving together with the main act of the chapter´s salon a new soundtrack for each event.
Come and enjoy yourselves in a club odyssey that will take you to another dimension. Be a part of the journey through q***rness. Support trans DJs, listen and enjoy their musical vision.
