SOUND LODGE FEST, ACCRA - January 2025 with Api Pipo featuring Sahra da Silva/ Dela Botri & Hewale Sounds/ Frank Kissi 🎶🎵🌈☀️
………………………………………………………………………………
In January 2025, the World Scene Platform (WSP), in collaboration with Ghanaian
Music, proudly launched the SoundLodge Festival Union in Accra—a vibrant musical
exchange bridging two continents. This groundbreaking project brought together
musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds to share traditions, co-create, and explore
new sonic directions. At the heart of this initiative was a unique collaboration between a
reduced lineup of the band ApiPipoand Ghanaian musicians, including the dynamic
local group Hewale Sound led by the renowned traditional flutist, Yaw Dela.
The journey began with an inspiring workshop hosted by the National Police
Orchestra in Accra. Musicians from both sides shared their compositions, stories, and
musical philosophies, creating a rich dialogue of rhythms and melodies. The workshop
culminated in a joyful jam session built around one of ApiPipo’s original pieces, setting
the tone for the rest of the collaboration.
This musical union unfolded over a series of three performances. The first took place
on live television at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s Breakfast TV, where the
audience was treated to original compositions by Sahra da Silva and ApiPipo,
concluding with a beautiful rendition of a traditional Ewe piece, featuring a captivating
performance by Yawo Dela on flute.
The second concert took us beyond the capital to the stunning Hotel Senchi Resort,
located about three hours from Accra. Here, ApiPipo and Hewale Sound joined forces in
a special fusion performance, blending contemporary European elements with
Ghanaian traditional roots in an atmosphere of true cross-cultural celebration.
Returning to Accra, the project reached its joyful peak with a vibrant final performance.
Musicians from Hewale Soundand other local artists came together once more,
delivering an energetic and heartfelt show that captured the spirit of unity, mutual
respect, and the transformative power of music.
The SoundLodge Festival Union marked a beautiful beginning to what we hope will be
an ongoing exchange—where music continues to build bridges, spark creativity, and
connect hearts across borders.
WSP is very grateful for the major generous support from KODA and also TEMPI, the two
associations without which this project would have not been possible
Best Regards!
