Great look into the chaabi of Cairo! Ayman Ramadan took me under his wings and made sure I met many of these guys and played at a string of the street parties/weddings the summer before the Arab Spring. Chaabi singers like Shehta Karika where ones of the first to freestyle over the politics and to spread awareness to the people about the changes going on. This music is the egyptian rave & punk music in its most awesome form! It was banned from radioplay and first after the revolution it got the respect it deserved. Also to see women dance around with machetes and butterfly knives, motorbike burnouts on the dance floor, to hear reggaeton, Ibiza hits and mainstream get looped, chopped and mixed with chaabi rythms as instrumentals for the mc's was amazing. Lucky me to have been there!

Vi er igen med på verdens bedste festival. Denne gang sammen med 42 flygtninge der har deltaget i vores film, musik, foto og skrive workshops i danske asylcentre. Den 26. juni havde vi fest på den spritny EAST stage hvor vi fik selskab af Raske Penge, der også har deltaget som gæstelærer for unge flygtninge. Stor hånd til Treasure, Morteza, Aysan, Mazen, Zaki og alle de andre der gik på scenen og skabte en fest for os alle sammen.

Også en hjertevarm tak til vores støttepartnere 3 Danmark, Roskilde Festival Fonden og alle jer der lægger tid og kræfter ind.

Long read alarm: In 2013 my good friend D**o Donato gave me a tune just named MAMBO before I was playing at his club Neu in Sao Paolo. Kinda lame and funny name... but I took a chance and dropped it during my set and it was fun, dirty and pure fire. Tropkillaz had just sent it out to their friends - and around 50 tracks and a few years later, they where killing it all over the world. Now they're back in Copenhagen, and I get the joy of sharing the stage with them. A real DONT MISS for all bass lovers. Distortion x Rust: Tropkillaz (BR - Natkoncert)
