Presenting Walt Disco 💚
In exactly one week Walt Disco releases their second album “The Warping” and we have been absolutely mesmerized by the singles they have already put out.
called their single “You Make Me Feel So Dumb” a cynical disco banger and we wholeheartedly agree with that description.
also interviewed the young Scottish outfit back in January where they talked about drawing inspiration from the 80’s synth and new wave as well as the 70’s glamrock. We love it, and we are sure you're gonna love it too, so check it out!

Presenting KOKOKO! 💚

After a short break, the Congolese electronica pioneers are back with a new album coming out exactly one month from now, and if the first three singles are any indication, it’s going to be a banging album.

Politiken was on the scene when KOKOKO! played at the Roskilde Festival in 2018, and reported that Avalon got filled to the brim as the show progressed, simply because people walked by and ended dancing their way into the show.

Since then the group has shrunk to a duo, but the sound is still massive! Take a listen and judge for yourself here:

While we keep working tirelessly on getting everything ready for this year's festival, we also want to say a big thank you to the different contributors who help make this festival possible 🖤💚

First off, we’d like to give a huge shout-out to the people at Musik Loppen, who from the start have been a huge support, both financially, but also in trusting us with their space where we can present the music we love, while also getting creative with the settings and visuals.

We would also like to thank ROSA and Tuborgfondet, who have provided us with a stage for our outdoor shows, which will be jam packed with an ambitious line-up, completely free of charge (as always!).

To top things off, we have also received funding from both Koda and Copenhagen Municipality, which all add up to getting this show on the road.

Festivals are crazy expensive to organize, so without support from all of the above, there is no way in hell any of our activities would be possible. We are going on our fifth year in 2024, and the Frigjort team all work as volunteers year around. We have always done our best to pay our acts and technicians a fair amount, after which we fight for whatever scraps are left amongst ourselves. Sometimes there might even be enough for us to go bowling at Frigjorts’ expense, like once a year. We still have to pay for the beer towers ourselves though, imagine putting that on as a company expense in this economy!

Last year we had a blast dancing, talking and experiencing great shows with beautifully curated visuals, and an amazing community vibe - and we are looking so much forward to bringing it all back to Christiania this summer! ✨

The line up for 2024 is well underway and we have a few more surprises that we are dying to share with you soon 💚

As Frigjort tradition implies you can feel free to support and join the festival in the daytime only with your good vibes, presence (and beerdrinking) since there will be music free of charge outside for two days in the heart of Christiania!

In the Acts of the Apostles in the New Testament, you can read that Jesus told his disciples that they had to wait for the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem.

Luckily, you do not have to wait until August for Frigjort Festival, as we celebrate that God had to leave earth, for humanity to be released to drink beers in Frigjorts outside bar at Christ's Ascension tomorrow outside of Loppen 💚

INTERNATIONAL WORKERS’ DAY POP UP BAR OUTSIDE LOPPEN (CHEAP BEER AND FESTIVAL TICKET LOTTERY)

On a bit of a spontaneous whim, we’ve decided to throw a little pop-up bar outside Musik Loppen to celebrate International Workers’ Day tomorrow. Do like Marx and Engels and wind down from a long day of fighting for your rights by cracking open a cold one🍻

In the spirit of the Workers’ Rights Movement, we are keeping the prices reasonable: There will be delicious draft beer for 40 DKK - aaaand between 16:00 and 17:00 we’ll do a little two-coinoffer, serving you the golden drops straight from the tap for just 30 DKK💚

As a little extra spin on the concept, each beer comes with a lottery ticket that can win you a partout ticket for Frigjort Festival 2024. Winners will be drawn at around 20:00, but you can just give us your mail if you need to leave early - you probably need to be at work on Thursday🥲

BAD WITH PHONES & SOAP HORSE AT FRIGJORT FESTIVAL 2024

Yesterday we announced Mia Berg and Akabanga, and today we are right back at you with two new names for Frigjort Festival 2024 🔥

Soap Horse is Hans Gustav Björklund Moulvad from Mavourneen’s solo project. Last year we enjoyed Mavourneen on the outside stage in biblical rain, but we learned from our mistakes, so this year Moulvad and Soap Horse are playing Friday inside in a dry and intimate setting in Byens Lys.

Soap Horse is an avant-garde amalgam of country, punk and experimental rock, rich in raw power and ravenous energy. The project is already touring the American East Coast with The Raveonettes this summer, so we are very happy to have them stopping by our festival 💚

Outside, and free of charge, we are proud to present the British don of weirdo-pop, rapper-that-is-not-a-rapper and self-proclaimed “extra guy”, BAD WITH PHONES. BAD WITH PHONES makes a unique blend of pop, R’n’B, rap and post-punk with melodies and sharp lyricism in focus while bringing an eclectic and good vibe to the stage that we really appreciate ✨

MIA BERG (NO) & AKABANGA AT FRIGJORT FESTIVAL 2024

Summer Festival season is about to begin, but we are saving the best for last, when we are going to have a blast on the 9th and 10th of August at Frigjort Festival 2024 ✨

Today, we are happy to announce that Mia Berg (NO) and Akabanga will be joining this years’ line-up:

Mia Berg will be ensure the intimate and emotional vibes Friday in Byens Lys with her detailed-oriented and vulnerable indie-pop. She has been compared to the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and Adrienne Lenker, so we promise that it's okay to cry just a little bit in the dark corners of Christianias local cinema - we’ll bring flowers and candlelights 🌹

You may have met AKABANGA at Musik Loppen, when we had the pleasure of bringing the Aarhus-based band to Copenhagen back in March. If not, then get ready for the party of a lifetime, when they are conquering our outside stage Saturday evening.

AKABANGA is a dynamic ensemble with deep-rooted knowledge in the diverse rhythms of Western and Eastern Africa. AKABANGA guides you through the lands of sounds, melodies and harmonics that suit both the eager listener and enthusiastic dancers. The show with AKABANGA is part of our free program, so there is no excuse for leaving those curious ears and feet at home! 🌞

GAFFA KNOWS WHAT'S UP...

Last week, the people of Christiania decided to close the former Pusher Street starting a large scale renovation, turning the street into a center for culture, art and commerce.

We want to express our utmost respect to the initiatives that have already started enforcing this positive change - be it the Saturday fleamarkets or street art for kids. We humbly hope to play a small part in making Christiania (even more of) a center for culture and art in Copenhagen, when we are hosting our festival there this August💛💛💛

We are beyond excited for this one. It's not like Loppen isn't already hot as f**k in the summer, but KOKOKO! are bringing some extra heat, as well as a new album at Frigjort this year🔥

They'll be playing as part of the Saturday program, so we figured now would probably be a good time to start selling single day tickets for the festival as well. We still have a lot of announcements to go, so hold onto your butts, and get your tickets while you can. It's only 225 kroner, which is pretty fair, we dunno... ✨FIRST ACTS READY FOR Frigjort Festival 2024✨

We are super proud to announce the first five artist for Frigjort 2024. We are but one out of many festivals on the Copenhagen festival scene, but we are always committed to bringing you exciting new and up-coming acts that aren't from the Stone Age.

Like always, a large part of the program will be completely free of charge, so if you don't have the money to go south for the summer, Frigjort's got your back.

✨ANNOUNCEMENT OF AN ANNOUNCEMENT ✨

Hey friends. It's been a bit quiet on the Frigjort-front. We've been busy with TootArd, work and generally being bummed over the state of the world🍉🍉🍉

On a more positive note, we just want to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who came to the sold out show with TootArd last Friday at Grå Hal. We've honestly never had a better crowd and things couldn't have gone better. Shout out to the band as well as the DJs Berrin Bas, Muskila and DJ Nah Care for all bringing the heat on a cold February Frigjort Friday.

The line-up for Frigjort Festival 2024 is taking shape, and we will be ready with the first batch of announcements on the 8th of March. Until then, you can still get full festival early-bird tickets for 325 kroner, that will be available until the first acts hit the poster, after which the price is going up!

At this year's Frigjort Festival we had the pleasure of presenting a talk with Barbara Moleko and Simon Gents from Stem Sindet ✨

The talk was focusing on Barbara's experiences of living a life as a professional musician with ADHD, how challenges can be met by both yourself and those around you in a way that supports the possibility of the most mentally sustainable life - and now you can hear the talk as a podcast 🎧

After releasing of a debut album like the one Honeyglaze release in April last year, one would think the band had already toured the world. Or at least the European countries. But NO...

So with only a few shows outside of the UK we were proud to present the Speedy Wunderground-newcomers for their first show on Danish ground, when the trio took on Loppen for Frigjort Festival 2023. And what a show! Let's hope for a new visit in Copenhagen in a not-too-distant-future ✨

With his brilliant musicianship and eclectic style of playing Rune Risager is a highly sought-after guitarist on the Danish indie and experimental music scene.

With his performance as Vibrant As F**k for Frigjort Festival 2023 we got an enriching insight in his capabilities as a solo artist and Byens Lys - with visuals from Pleasure Control - was the absolute perfect setting ✨
