After four years and over 300 hundred performances, the show Come Fly With Me that has taken the island of Mallorca by storm is to end its hugely successful run and is set to wow audiences in other parts of the show business world. The Balearic Islands premiere entertainment and event management group Globo Balear, have announced today that their prestigious “Rat Pack” era production Come Fly With Me is to finish its current performance cycle at the end of October and will be reappearing in a different location in the near future.
Discussions are underway with a number of interested producers in London’s West End and the Middle East, as to the next destination of this hugely successful and ground breaking theatrical spectacular. Come Fly With Me has become the benchmark of entertainment excellence in Mallorca over the past few years, and it will come as no surprise to anybody who has seen the show, that it sits astride the “Top Attractions” listings on the hard-to-please Trip Advisor website, and is consistently considered true “5 Star” entertainment value-for-money by its thousands of subscribers. The show has proved over and over again that West End production values, allied to a hugely talented cast, can produce pure entertainment magic. It was theatrical legend Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber who described Come Fly With Me “The most incredible acrobatic choreography I have ever witnessed.” From a man who practically invented modern musical theatre that’s high praise indeed.
Globo Balear Show Director Martyn Smith, who conceived the idea of producing an all dancing, acrobatic, and Sinatra swing singing entertainment set in 1959 New York, has mixed feelings about the fact that Come Fly With Me is to leave Mallorca for pastures new. “I am so proud of the show; at every performance the cast receives a standing ovation, I have been blown-away by the public’s reaction to the show.” As Come Fly With Me seeks other audiences elsewhere, Martyn Smith and his production team are already working on a number of ideas and concepts to present to audiences in Mallorca, details of which will be released very soon. “I’m flat out at the moment considering potential new shows for us to develop, tweaking ideas and concepts that we know will excite people here in Mallorca. As a company we are totally committed to entertaining the public; that’s what we do, what we are good at and, we do not want to rest on-our-laurels when it comes to presenting new high quality projects for visitors and island-based audiences alike.”
Catherine Sasson CEO of Globo Balear paid tribute to both Come Fly With Me and all the artistes that have appeared in this ground breaking show this past four years. It’s a fantastic show; my late father Jacques loved the music and style of Frank Sinatra and his instincts were proved right, the public just loved it as well. We bid a fond farewell to this ground breaking theatrical experience, knowing that others will enjoy it as much as we have. Now we have to put our heads together and come up with an equally dynamic new production to follow in the footsteps of this iconic show; it won’t be easy, but we are fully committed to do it once again.”
The last performance of Come Fly With Me in Mallorca will take place on Friday 26th October at The Globo Balear Theatre, Sol de Mallorca. Now that there is a date for the fond farewell of the best musical show on the island, it might be a good idea to get some tickets and enjoy this unique musical and theatrical experience before it sails away from these shores.
