Why is a venue walkthrough so important?

As we toured the Addis International Convention Center in preparation for the Africa Climate Summit, we were reminded of why this step is non-negotiable for us. Here are three reasons we always do it:

1️⃣ Ask the right questions – This is the time for our team to walk every corner, speak with the venue team, and uncover every possibility the space offers.

2️⃣ Visualize the layout – Floorplans don’t always tell the full story. Seeing the space in person allows us to adjust our plans before setup begins.

3️⃣ Finalize logistics – The bigger the event, the more moving parts. Bringing together vendors, service partners, and internal teams ensures all perspectives are aligned and potential overlaps are addressed well in advance.

Because in our world, smooth sailing on event day starts weeks before a single chair is set.

At +4 in Addis Ababa, co-hosted by Ethiopia and Italy, we were honored to help bring this global moment to life.

We worked closely with national and international partners to ensure every protocol, process, and participant experience was handled with care.

From managing presidential-level logistics to designing each touchpoint across the venue, our team worked behind the scenes to help bring the United Nations Food Systems Coordination Hubs vision to life.
