In November 2023, Monoma Suomi and the Mushrooming workspace network called for applications for a trial spring residency to use a free space in the shared office building in Lauttasaari (Heikkiläntie 7). Three people from different backgrounds joined in a collective effort to submit a proposal to use one of the largest spaces in the building for activities that would combine movement, culture, an
d art. We decided to use the word Sinergia to identify the space as we use it during the residency. Singergia means synergy, it refers to interaction or cooperation that gives rise to a whole that is greater than the simple sum of its parts. The term comes from Greek synergos which means working together. This is precisely what we have set out to do in our Lauttasaari Spring residency: We collaborate and wish to extend bridges to communicate the different activities that interest us. Our residency “Sinergia” is formed by three participants: Maria Gat’sal, Pablo Riestra and Nadia Tapia. The project combines movement, dance and acting activities organised by Maria and Nadia while exhibiting the vibrant paintings created by Pablo. Emphasising collaboration, the residency aims to create a collective experience that surpasses the individual efforts and offers a space for encounters, discoveries, and joy.
