Our memories are scattered across the brain's sensory centres.
Imagine a nice day on the beach. The smell of sun lotion, the friends you were with, the drink you were drinking; any of these could trigger memories of the whole thing. The more senses you manage to activate during your event, the most memorable it will be to the attendees. Here is how you stimulate the senses:
1. Sight. 👁 Plan visually striking installations, vibrant screens and engaging visual stimuli. This will help your attendees to both remember the event and also share pictures from it to social media.
2. Touch. 🤲 Think of the textures, like different kinds of paper and the feel of the event’s furniture or eating and drinking implements. Also specialised installations can be used to appeal to this sense.
3. Sound. 👂🏼Sound has an incredible ability to enhance experiences. It also affects taste: with the presence of loud music, sweet and salty tastes become less intense. So choose the music carefully!
4. Smell.👃 While your event doesn’t need to go that far, you can be far more creative with scent than you may think. Give scented gifts, or use diffusers to spray distinct scents at your event at intermittent intervals to conjure an association with the day.
5. Taste.👅 The food you serve at an event should be more than fuel. See it as a vehicle for memory enhancement. Why not, for instance, serve regional or local food as a nod to both local taste preference and local culture?

Things that are known to catch human attention: unusual, salient, sometimes provocative. In order to stand out in the market your event should be one of these things.

Successful event planners study Behavioural Science to craft their events to appeal to the psychological mechanisms that influence human behaviour and decision-making. We are here to share some of those scientifically proven tips with you.

1. Virtual events are not well received if they are longer than an hour. Your audience gets tired and loses their interest after that, if there are no breaks in between.

2. When an attendee makes their mind about your event, it will be almost impossible to change their mind. Are you making them feel special, different, or part of something they care about? If you are, they will love your event.

3. The more senses engaged, the stronger our ties with an object or moment and the more vivid and memorable the experience. That´s why the successful event stimulate multiple senses at the same time.

Visualization is a great tool that is often overlooked. The magic of it lies in the unconscious parts of the brain: visualizing something will start an automatic process that figures out the steps how to get there. The plan forms unconsciously and then it will come to you!

AI (artificial intelligence) has been a hot topic for years now, and its latest advancements bring new application possibilities to the event industry. Specialists say that in future events, AI can be used to make networking easier - it could inform other attendees where interesting contacts are located in the event. Also, it can collect essential data on what attendees are doing at events and give suggestions on how to improve future events based on the collected information.

These are exciting possibilities for the near future! What do you think of these advancements? Comment down below!

⏰Keep it short! Time yourself. If it hits somewhere between 30 seconds and 3 minutes you are good to go!

⚓️Anchor and twist! People usually understand better when you compare your product to something that is already known and then proceed to tell them what is the factor that makes your innovation better. This is called the anchor and twist method.

✍️Make a script and stick to it! Well practiced pitch works better than improvised one. Remember to deliver it with genuine enthusiasm, don´t just repeat it in a robotic way.
Tell them why! People want to know why you are doing something. If your answer is something that goes with their values, they are more likely to support you and your business.

🐉People love stories, tell them! Your elevator pitch has to have a story to engage your audience.

Employee engagement is crucial to every business, because it translates directly to productivity, motivation and quality of work. To boost it, you should consider offering your employees these 3 things:

1. Trust - Allow flexible working even after Covid eases. When you let your employees to work remotely and manage their own work schedules, they are more likely to return the trust and show that they are worth it.

2. Rewards - Show your appreciation by rewarding hard work and effort.

3. Care - Put your employees wellbeing first. Be understanding and make decisions in individual basis. They will feel appreciated!

Do you know your company culture? Is it Clan, Adhorancy, Hierarchy or Market culture? In summary Clan culture is friendly and family-like, where the people have a lot in common and are invested in the vision of their company.
Adhorancy culture is very creative, hectic and corageous, where the people have to adapt to changes rapidly.

Hierarchy culture is based on authority, rules and structure.
Market culture is ambitious and competitional, where goals are high and performance & results matter.

Each of these company cultures have their pros and cons. That is why it is important to analyze your culture and focus on the weak spots of each culture. For example, in Clan culture work/ fun balance can be forgotten. Adhoracy culture tends to be chaotic and stressful for workers. Hierarchy culture can restrict the communication between the top and bottom of the ladder. Market culture may drive the employees against each other.

Finding solutions for these problems will improve your company culture and your business!

How come Disney World is so loved and hyped, even though everyone knows, that day there will mostly mean of a lot of waiting in long queues, highly expensive food and sweating in the sun?

The answer is The Disney Paradox. Earlier this week we talked about peak moments. Disney World creates peak moments through out the days by having loved characters interact with the visitors, the rollercoasters and activities are worth waiting for and they always close for the day with a big firework show. These happy moments will be remembered, but waiting lines are forgotten.

You can use this model in your events too! Create peak moments through out the day and end the event with something special. This way your attendees will remember your event in positive light!

Peak moments are the ones that turn into the happiest memories. These are the ones you want to provide your attendees as an event planner. The event doesn't have to be perfect from beginning to end to leave a positive mark in people's minds. You have to be strategic with the timing. Peaks are going to be the performances you display. The time between the shows, called pits, are the moments the audience is not going to remember if you keep them short or give them something to do while they wait for the next thing to happen.

Do not stress yourself out trying to fill in all the pits, because peaks are the ones that are going to be remembered. When having a good balance of peaks and pits the experience will remain positive!

Corporate culture is a concept everyone can understand. It is the ways the employer and employees work and communicate together. But did you know, that half of what creates the culture is commonly neglected?

Corporate culture is formed from two things:

1. Cognitive culture - the way employees think and behave in the organization, for example how team-oriented, innovative or competitive they are. Usually conveyed verbally.

2. Emotional culture - the way employees feel like they have to behave at work, for example which emotions are okay to express and which ones they should hide. Emotional culture is conveyed non-verbally through body language and facial expressions.

Most of the organizations do not pay attention to their emotional culture, even though it is a great factor that defines the way we behave. When running unmanaged, it usually causes problems and conflicts with your own company values. Imagine an organization that works in the entertainment industry, but their company culture is angry and hostile. The business is not going to do very well.

How to change your emotional culture then?

Allow your employees to express their feelings. Be compassionate. Notice how you walk through the office doors in the morning. Are you smiling? Are you dismissive or angry? All of these things matter.

Your culture guides how people behave and the experiences they deliver. Your brand is a reflection of how people behave and the experiences you deliver. They are interconnected. They are the same." - Riders and Elephants. Knowing this, what is your office culture like? How do you face difficult situations, mistakes but also the happy moments? How do you interact in your organization?

Often people think that brand is like a billboard, where the values can be seen very clearly even from far away. But actually a brand is the people in your team - their passion, emotions and communication skills. Focusing on developing the team as a unit will improve your brand!

According to PGR Marketing & Technology, the best types of networking events are:

1. Industry-specific events
2. Round Tables
3. Work Breakfasts
4. After-hour events
5. Online networking (e.g. Linkedin)

Each of them serves a different purpose. If you want it to be strictly business and learn new things, you should try industry-specific events, round tables or online networking. If your approach is more relaxed and you want to get new ideas, try work breakfasts and after-hour events!
