The Birth of a Movement – The RaNadi Initiative Launch
Friday 29th August 2025 will forever be etched in our history books. At the stunning Radisson Blu Resort in Denarau, Nadi, under the blessing and guidance of the Lord, we launched something greater than a programme – we launched a movement.
We began by acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land of Nadi, Na Were Levu, Na Vatulevu. With deep respect, we honoured the spirits of the vanua, the chiefs, elders past and present, and the community that welcomed us so warmly.
The evening was graced by our distinguished guests – our Australian High Commission, Fiji Team Up Chief Guest, Mr. Andrew Lepani from Team Up Play for Equity 3.0; the Representative of the Australian High Commission; Ms. Sharyne Fong, CEO of Leadership Leadership Fiji Fiji; and Ms. Amirah Hasan, GM of Radisson Blu Resort, Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island along with our partners, sponsors, and our own Nadi Touch Rugby family. Their presence reflected the power of partnership, community, and shared vision.

This is more than just touch rugby. It is about restoring what was lost after the pandemic, where once women filled the fields on Saturdays to find joy and therapy in the game, only for the numbers to dwindle until not a single women’s team stood in 2025. Tonight, we declared: that ends now.
The unoffical theme song chosen for the RaNadi Initiative launch, “I’m Not Your Superwoman” written by Babyface and sung powerfully by Karyn White, resonates deeply with the struggles and triumphs of women in sport. Its lyrics echo the reality that women are not defined by unrealistic expectations, but by their humanity, resilience, and strength — a message that aligns perfectly with RaNadi’s vision of empowering women, restoring their place in the game, and celebrating their leadership on and off the field.
A heartfelt acknowledgment goes to George Wasile, the creative mind behind the RaNadi Initiative logo, whose design beautifully weaves together the three core pillars of our movement – Family, Culture, and Sport Equity. Through his artistry, George has captured the essence of women as the backbone of families, the strength of our cultural heritage that grounds us, and the unshakable pursuit of equity in sport that drives us forward. His logo is more than just a symbol – it is a story, a vision, and a reminder of why the RaNadi Initiative was born
Through RaNadi, we embark on a three-phase journey:
Step 1: Planting seeds – empowering women with leadership, training, and equipment.
Step 2 Revival – bringing back the women’s competition, taking the game into communities, schools, and villages.
Step 3: The dream unfolding – preparing women for local, regional, and international stages, all the way to the Olympics.
As our Director so powerfully declared:
“RISE UP! RISE UP young women! RISE UP young men! RISE UP young leaders! Your time is now. Take back what was stolen. Step into the opportunities awaiting you. You are powerful, loved, and precious. This is our prayer. This is our movement. And this is just the beginning.”
The RaNadi Initiative has begun. And from here, there is no turning back. Together, we rise.
