Our Story
Historic charm is epitomised by Le Manoir du Bout du Pont - from its Pigeonnier from the 16th century, the house itself from the 17th, the sun dial on its facade, the wisteria covered courtyard, the three acres of gardens and the huge 19th century barn.
When the daughter of owners, Roddy and Angela Sharp, announced her engagement, it seemed the most natural thing for her to be married at Le Manoir. This happened in July 2016. The seed was sown and with encouragement of family and friends, the idea of transforming the property into a wedding venue began to grow.
Entering its third year, Le Manoir is now a fully fledged and successful wedding venue, with many happy and memorable weddings being held here.
Le Manoir is also let out as a holiday home and guests are welcomed whether coming for a holiday or celebrating a special birthday or anniversary, or all three.
Le Manoir is situated on the edge of La Sauvetat du Dropt, with a boulangerie, convenience store, tabac, hairdresser and post office. The bustling bastide villages of Eymet and Miramont de Guyenne, are both five kilometres away and Duras with its famous chateau is 12 kilometres away. The nearest airports with regular international flights are Bergerac (30 minutes away) and Bordeaux (90 minutes).
The sundial indicates the core of the house was built in 1699, but its Pigeonnier dates from the 16th century, and is a National monument. The architecture of the property does suggest that it was a Knights’ Templar Commander.
Accommodation at Le Manoir sleeps 20 people in eight ensuite double bedrooms, with two pull out sofas for two people each. The house has five ensuite bedrooms, a small annex has one ensuite bedroom and the apartment has two ensuite bedrooms. During the peak season and for weddings or events, it is only possible to rent the house and the gite together, thus the guests have exclusive use of the entire property.
