If you love table top antiques Faience, porcelain, silver, glorious dishes, bowls, candlesticks, salt, and pepper shakers, whatever it is whether for holidays or every day use one of the most charming tabletop shops I know is in Paris called, “Au Bain Marie” near Bon Marché.

Do you like to shop secondhand/vintage? If you do secondhand/vintage is the rage in Paris. I found a dark green wool duster, a mustard wool sweater, and a plaid wool dress from three of my favorite shops. I will post about it on my blog, but in the meantime every major department in Paris has a large section dedicated to vintage. Happy shopping x

I’m with a client we’re antiquing in the south of France.

Save all those bits and pieces because one day you might find a place for them.

A booklet full of French men and their « glories » some are generals, poets, travelers, architects, politicians doctors… the booklet is from the late 1800s. Frameable art if you like old men staring you down as you walk by. The last image is Jean François de Galaup, comte de Lapérouse, often called simply Lapérouse, was a French naval officer and explorer. Having enlisted at the age of 15, he had a successful naval career and in 1785 was appointed to lead a scientific expedition around the world. Voyage de La Pérouse autour du monde, 1–4 (Paris, 1797). These volumes are still used for cartographic and scientific information about the Pacific. My husband told me that it is said that on the day King Louis the 16th was killed he asked, » is there any news from Laperouse? »

Bits of happy brocante. I bought some left more and wanted more. Prices were higher than usual. But happy with what I came home with me.

Across the street from our apartment in Paris, there is a bakery. It is always busy, with a steady line of people from the moment it opens until it closes. That is a sure sign that it is delicious!
