It took us a while with to meet to do this photoshoot, but it worth it so much to wait !
I made this pair of stays last year and drafted the pattern myself. It required several attempts because I was experimenting a drafting method from before the 18th century discussed in Patterns of Fashion 5 by
As I struggle with visualizing I decided to go little step by little step and made several mock ups because I wanted a good result, as I was using this fabric I absolutely love and didn’t want to waste.
Also, the hand sewing of the tabs takes FOREVER so when you do it you know it worth the time to fix everything before 😅
There are some improvements to think about for the next one though, but I feel like this study really helped me to improve my understanding of this piece of costume in general. I learned a lot and I feel very comfortable wearing them!
This photography is one of my favorites of the photoshoot, maybe my favorite at all ! It felt strange to go back in front of the camera but I will tell more in the next post !

🇬🇧 A bit of sewing for myself as I wanted to work on my wardrobe. This skirt is a skirt of tests and experimentations. And fails 😅 But I am happy of how it turned out in the end, and I really love the flat front style opening, it is very typical from the 19th and 20th centuries 😍Now I want another one ! And a puffy blouse 😁 For information, the fabric has been bought second hand at Erikshjälpen Second Hand Uppsala], I had the perfect amount to make this, I have almost no leftover !
🇫🇷 La jupe des expérimentations est terminée ! J’aime beaucoup l’ouverture façon pantalon à pont, typique des pantalons du 19eme et 20eme siècles 😍Bon maintenant j’en veux une autre (en prenant en compte mes erreurs)! Et une chemise bouffante avec😅 et pour info j’ai acheté ce tissu d’occasion à Erikshjälpen Second Hand Uppsala] , et j’ai eu exactement la quantité de tissu nécessaire, très peu de déchets ☺️

I call this project « the teaching skirt » because I keep making tests that don’t go very well 😅, but I end up finding the reason and solution. The fabric unfortunately has frayed a lot in a way I couldn’t do exactly what I wanted but this is a learning opportunity and it is nice to feel the improvement 🙂

J’appelle de projet « la jupe de l’apprentissage » parce que j’ai voulu y faire plein de techniques nouvelles ou que j’utilise rarement, et ça ne s’est pas super bien passé 😅 mais j’ai pu prendre du recul sur mon travail et comprendre mes erreurs, et ainsi les régler. Malheureusement le tissu s’effiloche beaucoup donc je n’ai pas pu faire exactement ce que je voulais mais c‘est un apprentissage et c’est toujours positif 🙂

Exhibition at the Göteborgs stadsmuseum

Augusta Lundin (1840-1919) is considered as the first fashion designer in Sweden.

It was so nice to see her amazing work ! She bought the patterns from Worth in France to adapt them to her own clients.

🇬🇧 I handstitched all the decorations yesterday. I used a little ribbon I had bought for another project and that finally I didn’t use. I just had 10cm extra at the end, you can’t make any mistake with that 😰 So it is like it was waiting for this project 😅

🇫🇷 J'ai cousu à la main toutes les décorations hier. J'ai utilisé un petit ruban que j'avais acheté pour un autre projet et que finalement je n'ai pas utilisé. Il n’en restait que 10 cm à la fin, pas de droit à l’erreur 😰 Mais c’est comme si ce petit ruban attendait patiemment son projet parfait 😅

🇬🇧 Lining with the bones inserted between the two layers. This lining is made to create the structure needed without sewing the channels through the outside fabric that will come on it!

🇫🇷 Doublure avec les baleines entre les deux épaisseurs. Cette doublure permet de créer la structure et le maintien nécessaires, car je ne voulais pas coudre les casiers à baleines sur le tissu extérieur qui mérite de rester intact.

🇫🇷 Un petit souvenir de ma participation l’an dernier aux concours de Foundations Revealed sur le thème « il était une fois ». Mes débuts en montage vidéo et fait à la hâte, mais j’aimerais bien m’y réessayer ! J’ai même un peu honte de la montrer mais je me dis que c’est aussi une bonne chose de partager nos essais 🙂
